What kind of contract does that first overall pick of MLB draft get? A minor league one ? What salary would you say the top 10 picks get? In the NFL and NBA its huge dollars but in the MLB I don't think its a lot.

Anyone know what salary lets say the first overall pick usually gets for his first year?

It's more about the bonus than the actual salary I think

Salaries are dirt, but they get fat bonuses. Last year's #1 and #3 got close to $3mm bonus. Lincecum (#10 last year) got just over $2mm bonus. The higher pick doesn't necessarily get a higher bonus. baseball is a weird draft. Teams can't trade picks and the perceived best players often slip b/c their bonus demands are too high. Teams will often take the more "signable" player over the best player.

minor league salaries are pretty standard across the levels and REALLY low. If a guy has MLB service time and is in the minors they make a livable wage (something like $60 or $75k), but guys with no service time make as low as $1000/month.
