Devil Rays selected LHP David Price with the first pick in the 2007 draft.
Price was atop most draft boards after going 11-1 with a 2.63 ERA and a 194/31 K/BB ratio in 133 1/3 innings in his junior season at Vanderbilt. The 6-foot-5 left-hander is nearly as ready as Andrew Miller was a year ago, and his mid-90s fastball-slider combination gives him plenty of upside. There's some chance that he'll reach the majors in the second half of the season, though it'd make more sense for the Rays to try out the rest of their Triple-A starters first. Assuming that his heavy college workload doesn't catch up to him, he could be a future No. 1 or No. 2 starter.
