Scalping - When do you play?

Do you guys play any scalp or does it have to be worth a certain amount?

I ask b/c I put together a quick spreadsheet that figures out 3 way (soccer) scalps and I have one that will return $13. Just wondering what you think makes it a worthwhile scalp or if any scalp is worthwhile.

Its very easy to throw out a scalp on forums like this to look smart without saying its only worth a Banana after hours of goggling the PC. I've always questioned these so called scalpers for 2 reasons. Firstly, if your spending that long on the PC and only scalping your a Mug, you should have found much better hunting grounds. Secondly going outside a certain range means your stake seriously leaves you vunerable, hence your $13 is fair but can you imagine a $130 scalp. As I said, its easy to post bollocks to people who are not at this all day, its laughable, when was the last time someone posted a scalp went against them, which happens all the time in Trading.

As for your personal situation I would be wary as 3 way markets, especially the more popular ones as its ducks arse stuff and you wont get that scalp regular enough to justify the time spent. If your so called scalps are percentage wise looking good, that means more often than not you are getting the price right so double your stake and hedge out at a better price for your usual stake, thus getting value. For the minority that go the other way, knock out some of the liability and take the loss but remember you have to be beat twice, once on the price and again on the game. :thumbsup:

This is a true scalp, not a line move or anything. One of the books I have is ALWAYS slow to move, especially on lesser played games, so I just check that with 5dimes. Time mining for a scalp is minimal.

T&T was at +101 when I made the first part of it for the scalp posted in the initial post, but then moved up to +$115 and I also realized that 5dimes would allow me to play the -.5 goal on T&T so I could circumvent their $500 cap and make it $1000.

There is no risk that it will move against me or that I will get toasted somehow. I was wondering if everyone else took all scalps regardless of return or if it wasn't over $x that mean it wasn't worth their time.

I would not suggest playing unusual wierd amounts at 5 dimes. They do not welcome scalpers.

administer for local, shouldn't care about it at all.

Before Pinny became unavailable for USA, I was very interested in the scalp business & made about 20-30 scalps in a few weeks (without being glued to the computer; imagine if I had Iceman's eyes, I'd make 100 tiny scalps even if they are 1-cent to 3-cent arbs in football ML's or whatever).

But.... as you mentioned it's a true scalp, then your biggest question should be this: "can I handle the re-ups & money movement in book C if I hit $1K per bet and it ends on the losing side several times in a week?"

With this slow-moving industry when it comes to deposits/withdrawals, I'd imagine your answer is that it's not worth several $13's of free profit ($100 profit but having to re-up at Book C because you lost $7K in that book, etcetera).

Any scalp is worthwhile if the bankroll can not be better utilized elsewhere, or if you have no bankroll considerations.

How weak are the soccer lines for the book that made the error yesterday? How often do they make errors?

Playing bad soccer (or tennis, golf etc..) lines is probably the fastest way to get kicked out of an offshore.

very weak for scalping purposes and they never caught the error (unfortunately as they drew). However, their soccer lines are pretty limited, usually only to the bigger leagues/games.

Fortunately I covered the play on the bad line with a draw bet

Yeah I did some research to see who the place is. It seems like it is a credit book. However I asked about a post up place and was referred to the place. They had the same line. I sent $150 Western Union and you know how it turned out. Still to get +$475 I had to take a shot. The place seemed shady though. They added a signup bonus that I had to demand they take away. They weren't going to. How shady is that? I wonder if I won if they would have paid.

Yeah, I don't know anything about it. Options are kind of limited and lines aren't that great, but smaller plays are way way off at times.

have you ever been payed by them? I see at another place they are rated a D+ book.
