3* Mississippi State Bulldogs +145 (BJ)

I was looking at laying off this game at it's original line, but as this line climbs, it is easier to make a play on Mississippi State here.

Mississippi State has one of the greatest homefield advantages in college baseball. Similiar to LSU, they can consistently draw in the 6,000-8,000 range. 9,000 seats have been sold out, and that doesnt count the people that just walk up in the outfield in their junkyard out there, which is one of the most unique and greatest things I have ever seen. The Bulldogs will eclipse 10,000 fans in this game, passionate about Mississippi State's potential return to Omaha, while Clemson is in LaLa Land thinking about the MLB Draft. The Bulldogs arent some team that got lucky, they have great college baseball tradition with postseason play with the likes in their prime of Will Clark, Rafael Palmerio, etc. They are battle tested from the SEC. They are a great home team at 22-8.

For the Bulldogs to go into FSU and take out the nation's long ranked #1 team is impressive. Their pitching has caught fire at the right time, and they have gotten better as the season has progressed.

They will throw Crosswhite today, who doesn't have dominant ace numbers, but he is a winner. In a year that Miss State struggled a bit, he found a way to come out, and just win games, regardless fo what it took. Bulldogs only went 15-13 in SEC play, but he was 8-4 going up against every other team's ace. Despite Clemson's starter Moskos getting the publicity after being selected in the 1st round, Moskos is more of a project with a high ceiling, rather than a guy who can go out and win baseball games right now. He was a long time reliever, turned starter in the middle of the year, and he hasnt handled the adjustment that well. Moskos has not been throwing well lately, in part because his velocity has fallen off, a definite sign of late season fatigue and struggle to cope with becomign a starter. His last few games have not been impressive by any stretch of the imagination, while Crosswhite has been on fire. Moskos started vs. NC State and FSU to close the season, losing 11-4 both times with Moskos on the mound. He lost 5-4 to Miami a week later. And finally held someone in check, beating an outmatched St. John's team, and they almost lost to that inferior squad, it took a last minute single.

Dont get me wrong, Clemson is probably the most talented team left, and underrated as far as seeding goes, but with the MLB Draft yesterday, a lot of players on this Clemson team were drafted yesterday, and they are very excited about the draft. It is a life changing event. Clemson will be looking behind them to yesterday's draft, including Moskos, and they will run into a wall today at Miss State. They are walking into a place that is too big, and too intense for their mindset right now, and this is a trap game and tough spot for a Clemson team that has played inconsistent baseball this year, earning a 2 seed at someone else's regional, when they had the talent to host. They are thinking about the draft and walking into a yard that will be jam packed, intense. Crosswhite can run it up to 92 MPH, and they will bring Weatherford behind him, who has touched 95 this year - so it's not like the Bulldogs are running some scrub out to the mound. This Bulldog team is loaded with seniors and experience, and they will be ready for Clemson today, in the game of these seniors lives.

This catcher is tough for MSU. Nice arm, quick release, pop at about 1.8-1.9......Gotta love those catchers :pope:
