Dispelling the myths of the so called "Forum Jinx"

We always see these forum 'jinx' posts after a team goes in the tank shortly after someone points out how well they're doing....Of course in reality there is no truth to or logic behind this, or is it? :nono5:

Recent jinx threads or posts I have personally been invovled in got me thinking, maybe there's something to the jinx, or maybe one could profit from the jinx....in reality this is a streak turning around or ending .

I mentioned the Royals were baseball's hottest team at 8-2 in L10...they go 3-11 after that...yes it is the Royals but still.

I mention the Red Sox are on pace to win 110+ games, they go 1-6 after that.

I posted in Sal The Ital's Yankees homer thread that NY has been so bad he has stopped posting Yankee updates, and New York is 4-0 since.

From now on this thread wll be used to mention how well or how poorly a team has been playing...

If a team is offically noted here , I will fade or go with the cold team for the next 10 games and see how this plays out, and will keep a record.

Not sure about that jinx but when Chop marked a game as a win in the 7th the other night with only a 4 run lead has to be one of the biggest jinxes ive seen...

Nobody ever notices when the prediction comes true, they only notice the jinx, so it always appears to be a jinx. Why is this such a hard concept to grasp. Also, it may have something to do with the law of averages or whatever it's called. A team can't maintain complete domination, so a super hot streak will usually be balanced by a cold one.

This is absolutely correct and something I was going to mention bt decided to start a running tab type of thread just to see what happens.

Like when a player makes a great catch on defense and then he's up to bat first, of course no one notices the other 8 times he doesn't come up first and they will say 'wow, he made a great play and look who's up first this inning" :missingte

I will have some fun with this...I do think there's some ways to fade streaks and profit though.

Sorry, you have an interesting look. You could become a character actor.. Serious. Hollywood is always looking for unique actors. I'd rather see you cast as Bruce Willis's sidekick in the new Die Hard rather than the guy they have now. serious. Good Luck

The Atlants Braves will become the first official reverse jinx, starting tomorrow (Sunday) the next ten Braves games .

OT; Jman, what is the single season doubles record? isnt it a pretty old record that someone from the Phil's has......... if so, why hasnt this record been broken in modern baseball..... i think 67 is the record......

well i cant believe the poor pitiful braves won last night.....

no way they can beat the awesome ted lilly tonight........ good ole buddy carlyle has one win since 1999........ the braves have absolutely no chance tonight........ none, zilch..........
