The Quest For a Stable 25 Units Per Month

Okay, in addition to posting my daily plays and such, I want to see if I can make a stable 25 units of profit per month, any way I can. This is more of a personal challenge than anything else, but I will actually be doing this. My plan is to profit 25 units the first two months, and then adjust my unit size accordingly. My starting bankroll is $5,000, so to be safe my initial unit size will be $50, or 1% per play. I may be using systems, straight up picks, or chasing a bit. I just want to see whether or not I can grind out 20 units of profit on a monthly basis using any method I want.

Most plays will be 1 unit, but some may escalate to higher amounts. I may be playing series bets as well, on occasion. Once I reach my 25 units for the month, I will stop and start up again the next month. I will be starting this tomorrow, but may be posting a few plays tonight if I see any lines/plays that I particularly like.

Wish me luck!

Well, since I have already started this thread in here, I guess I will just post it here. Everything will still be time-dated even in this thread for records, so I assume it is pretty much the same..

My only comment (besides to point out that you said 25 units most of the time, except the one time you said 20 units "I just want to see whether or not I can grind out 20 units of profit on a monthly basis using any method I want.") was on this sentence:

Once I reach my 25 units for the month, I will stop and start up again the next month.

So if you roll hot at the beginning of a month and pick up 25 units in the first two weeks, you'll quit for the next two weeks, then start up again? :WTF:

Have you thought that part through?

I meant to say 25 units of profit in that sentence.

Yes, I have throughly thought this out and will stop as soon as I achieve 25 units of profit. No more plays from then on out, until the sometime in the early part of the next month. What if I were to achieve my 25 units of profit and then kept going but started losing a ton and wasn't able to make it back up to the 25 units of profit that I need. I want this profit to be STABLE most of all, and going further than what I set for a goal is greedy and just asking for all kinds of trouble.

Okayyyy... but what if you would have made another 10 units and ended at +35 units.. and the next month starts bad then goes good and you ended up +15, that +10 units from the previous month helps balance that out.

If you're a positive roi capper, play the games and max the profit for when you hit the bad streaks.. don't avoid games and start over later, that's just asking for trouble.

GL though, maybe it'll work out for you. :toast:

I guess I just don't want to be overly greedy. Here is a scenario opposite yours: What if I won 25 units early in the month but then went on a losing streak that gave me little to no profit or even leave me with a negative balance for the month. I will never get those units back, unless I have a terrific month to follow but then I am running the same exact risk at the month before. Just seems more logical to me to just get the needed profit and get out ASAP. No need to risk a month's profit just to gain a little bit more.

I agree Intrinzik. Which is what inspired me to copy your idea.
It's just the discipline that is the key. Last week I was up HUGE after just Monday. ended the week barely even. Reached my goal on day one, and just pissed it away the rest of the week.
I looked on the positive side though (I had no choice)...if I didn't have a huge Monday, that week would've really sucked.

Is that 2 unit to win $100?? or wanting to risk whatever to win 2 unit = $100???

It's always risking whatever to win however many units I want to win. below where I typed how many units my play is on, what team/total it is on, and the line for that play, I also post how much I am wagering in dollars and how much I am expecting to get back if I win.

Yes, it could totally happen that way. And if you play long enough, it WILL happen that way. You're missing the point though. If you're a positive ROI capper (say 55% W to 45% L), it's more likely that you'll go up a bit than lose it.. so play them odds, and win. It's not getting greedy, it's playing your edge (assuming you have one).

Otherwise you're leaving money on the table. If you have an edge, not paying games just because you hit some magical number is throwing away money.

I see your point. I am just going to try it this way for now. Another reason that I want to do it this way is because it will give me more free time in most cases. Once I hit the 25 units of profit I can just take a break until the next month without having to worry about anything. Regardless, we'll see how it goes.

I'm in a rush to get these plays in before gametime, so here we go:

2* SD/TB OVER 8.5
1* SD team Total OVER 4

Sorry if these are a minute late, I just got home and had to place the bets first.
