I know this isn't news.

But my Mets are opening their series in Los Angeles tonight, and I'm hearing him for the first time this year. He still sounds as good as ever.

Top of the first was pretty long and he told a dozen stories, statistics, and anecdotes about the Mets -- the team and individuals. I had heard or already knew probably 95% of it, but to hear him tell it was enthralling.

I hope Dodger fans who get to listen to him regularly know how good they have it.

I think he's boring and talks about other things other than baseball some times. I liked him better a few years ago.

I like my announcers on the boring side. You'd rather have some clown like Ken Harrelson to entertain you? Scully entertains effortlessly -- don't forget he's also the color guy.

I think he needs some help like when he had Don Drysdale they were good toghter. Nobody really stands out right now.

Vin Scully's a wonderful announcer. He's my favorite broadcaster along with the late Dan Kelly who was such a good hockey announcer. Vin Scully always makes me feel like I'm at the ballpark. He paints a picture of the game and then adds so many other things to it such as a story about a player in the game he's announcing or something from baseball's past.

Of course, thanks to Major League Baseball's completely moronic blackout policy, I can't get the Mets- Dodgers game tonight on the cable package that I paid extra for. On a cable station that I get a lot of Dodger games, they are showing beach volleyball and the following that up with some more programs that no one gives a shit about. Thanks Bud Selig.

Personally, I think Vin sucks. But he called the 1986 world series so I am a bit biased.

He does seem boring as hell though I cant watch his games.

I think the Angels crew is the best on the west.

The YES announcer/team is way better than Vin.

I cant listen to some guys voice for 3 hours without any good commentary.

It's torture.

Does nyone know how I can listen to Vin on-line? I recently pulled up the Dodgers flagship station but they didn't provide a feed.

VS is the GREATEST announcer in history. It was a sad day when NBC lost baseball because it deprived the nation of more memoral WS calls.

"In the year that has been sooooo improbable... the impossible has happened!"

"There's a little roller up along first, behind the bag! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight and the Mets win it!"

Classic.

One of the best of all time. He really knows WHEN to raise his voice and appreciates the significance of certain moments.

Nobody holds a candle to Scully. This ADHD generation where everything has to be loud and in your face simply can't appreciate everything that Vin brings to each and every broadcast.

best there ever was or will be. Those that don't like him, I just don't think really have the patience to watch a baseball broadcast.

I grew up loving Buck and Shannon, but I agree Vin is the best. Grossly underpaid at 3mil per season.
