If a batter hits a fly ball, and the fielder happens to lose his glove, and catches the ball in his hat, where does the batter end up and why?

Just a wild guess and say wherever he winds up plus an extra base...never seen this happen before...

neither of these are correct

I know I've heard this before but cannot recall what it is...the funny thing is, this would almost be impossible to lose your glove and catch the ball with your hat.

I know if you throw your glove at the ball and stop it, you are awarded that base and one more.

pretty sure here that you cannot use your equipment...and you most definitely cannot throw your glove at the ball .

Good call, I recall seeing that as well. Although, I know you can't use your equipment to catch a ball. Maybe there has to be intent involved.

Here is another question. How do you get four official outs in an inning?

foul ball, provided it doesn't hit a fielder first and it never goes past 1B or 3B. If a ball goes foul before passing a base without being touched by a fielder, it is a foul ball.

Here's one:

What happens when a ball hits a bird or a farm animal before being touched by a fielder?
