My brother's Camry has been a nightmare. The check engine light started coming on last year and after trips to 5 Toyota dealers and $2000, it's still on. </p>
Finally convinced him to trade it in for a Honda this weekend.

Fuck you Toyota.

You're the squarest person on this board. Go get yourself a chevy pick-up and raise it 4 inches. Toyota by far best vehicle on the road. Every manufacture is going to have some problems.:bigfinger

We've had 5 Hondas and all of them went over 100k miles without a single problem.

No problems yet with my 2000 Camry - besides normal maintenance, had only one repair for an emissions control valve ($200). It even has the original battery still.

My 2004 Sequoia hasn't had any repairs yet.

If you've had 5 Hondas, all over 100k miles with no problems, then your brother is a fucking retard for even buying a Toyota.

Must run in the family.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy a Toyota over a domestic but this has pissed me off. The dealers are charging $500 a pop to "fix" it then a day later, it returns. Take it back and they keep it for a week and can't find the problem. But do they refund the money? noooooooooooo. They basically want my brother to keep driving it until something breaks.... so if the engine breaks, that's $3000. Oh, I'm sure they'd like that.

Crunch, you already made a decision so nothing to add however

I would have asked for the error code that the scanner gives........and then gotten a 200 dollar scanner that you can buy online and then that would be the end of it, your brother could have simply checked the codes himself and if its always the same.................no need to do anything

I had a brand-new Toyota 4runner give the check-engine light. Took it in and had the oxygen sensor replaced. It sounds to me like the dealers are the problem.

Many of the Toyota's are made in the US.

I've had three Nissan's and they've all been good. My last one I had for 8 years and over 130,000 miles before I totaled it. It would have run forever.
