HOME TEAM IN CAPS

Arizona +1.67 over NY YANKEES
The amazing Yankees have won six in a row so lookout because these Yankees may not lose again this season. What’s even more impressive about those six wins is that it came against the White Sox, a team that scores once every three days, and against the Pirates and their 26-37 record. Excuse me while I crap my pants while admiring the Yankees greatness. Yanks may win again here but there’s not a chance we’re laying off this price on Brandon Webb. Webb has been amongst the most reliable starters in all of baseball for the past five years and this season is no different. The league is hitting .243 off him and he comes in with an ERA of 3.13. On the road those numbers decrease to .225 and 2.34 respectively. He throws strikes, he’s aggressive, he has wicked stuff and he’s only allowed three jacks in 51 road innings. Brandon Webb is the straight goods and once again we find the Yanks hugely overrated and hugely overpriced. Can you say value? Play Arizona +1.67 (Risking 2 units).

KANSAS CITY +1.06 over St. Louis
The Royals are 16 games under .500 but they’ve played .500 ball over their last 26 games and what they lack in talent they make up for in desire. This is a young and very enthusiastic group that has only upside and could be a sleeper the rest of the way. They hit extremely well and just came off a series win over the Phillies this past weekend. Now they’ll take a big step down in class when they face the woeful pitching staff of the Cardinals starting with Brad Thompson. Thompson has a propensity for giving up the long ball, as he’s already allowed seven in 27 road innings. Thompson is a career reliever turned starter who has appeared in 103 major league games and has started just six, his last six. Relievers turned starters have about as much chance at success as a pit bull does of living a good life at Michael Vicks’ home. In any event, when the Cardinals are favored on the road, in an AL Park no less, and the guy on the mound isn’t named Carpenter, we’re on it. Thompson and the Cardinals road chalk here is completely incorrect. Play: Kansas City +1.06 (Risking 2 units).

Toronto/SAN FRANCISCO under 8 –1.09
Last night with Josh Towers and Matt Morris going the total was 8½ and tonight’s two starters, A.J. Burnett and Noah Lowry put those two to shame, especially Burnett over Towers. The books took away just a half run on the total tonight and we see that as a slight error in judgment. These two offensively struggling clubs scored four first inning runs last night and still stayed under the total. The Blue Jays have now scored three runs or less in five of its past six games and that coincided with the loss of Lyle Overbay, a key factor in the middle of the Jays line-up. Noah Lowry is a quality lefty that the Blue Jays have never seen and that, too, should help our cause. Burnett loved pitching at this venue when he was a Marlin and should have little trouble containing the Giants again. The Giants have been shutout in three of their past six games and they scratch and claw for everything they get. This park is not hitter-friendly and asking these two to score nine against two quality starters is a stretch to be sure. Play: Toronto/San Fran under 8 (Risking 2.18 units to win 2).

Always like to see you on KC. Seems like you guys have a pretty good beat on this Royals team this season. I'm a totals guy, so I will for sure look into that Toronto/San Fran total. Good luck Sherwood.
