They gave Jeff Soto the job the job 5 months ago and now he is gone already! I saw him twice and thought he kicked ass.
If they go on tour again with a 3rd lead replacement singer within 2 years it would be a joke.I cant imagine that they would can soto for any new guy.It could only make sense if they were coming back with Perry in 2008.
But I thought his voice was shot?

I have no idea, at first Soto appeared to be an upgrade over the last guy...but then I heard some terrible reviews....they should have just packed it in or waited for the one and only....I don't see how his voice is shot really...he was still excellent when they made Trial By Fire...he looks really old though IMO....I don't think Perry has aged well at all, the past 10 years....then you see a guy like Rod Stewart still going strong and he's much older...others as well.

Obviously they can still all play...if they can't use the original singer than they should just create something new...they did well with Bad English...and other projects...I don't like someone else trying to sing these songs.

I don't like seeing these bands who sold out stadiums and sold 80-100 million albums still touring in groups of 3 or whatever...either start something new or move on....

Perhaps the Dont Stop Believing airplay has them feeling nostalgic, who knows.

JOURNEY ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF JEFF SCOTT SOTO

June 12, 2007 -- Journey has parted ways with their recently named lead singer Jeff Scott Soto. Jeff’s first appearance with Journey was July 7, 2006 in Bristow, VA. He had been filling in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the tour shortly after it began on June 23 due to illness. Jeff’s last performance was May 12, 2007 in Leesburg, VA.

According to guitarist Neal Schon, “We appreciate all of Jeff’s hard work and we can’t thank him enough for stepping in when Steve Augeri got sick last year. He did a tremendous job for us and we wish him the best. We’ve just decided to go our separate ways, no pun intended. We’re plotting our next move now."

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain continues, “We were lucky to have a friend who was already a Journey fan step in on a moment’s notice during the Def Leppard tour to help us out. Jeff was always the consummate professional and we hope that he remains a friend of the band in the future. We just felt it was time to go in a different direction.”

Journey--Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Jonathan Cain (keyboards) and Deen Castronovo (drums)—is taking the rest of 2007 off to spend time with their families, write new songs and map out plans for 2008

"They felt it was time to go in a different direction",Well he had just been named the official lead singer 5 months ago so this is pretty strange thing to say.
I was looking forward to a CD with Soto on it.

i am dumbfounded.everything was going along good. i saw them 3 times last year and the vibe was something i haven't seen in many bands. they looked as happy as a band could possibly be.oh well, i would have bet a million dollars this would have never happened and i would have lost.

Maybe something is in the works and Steve Perry is coming back...even better would be Gregg Rolie and kick that sap-writer Jonathan Cain out of the band...

Do you Recall?

I agree lets turn back the clock and go with Gregg Rolie.

I know I sound like a broken record but Steve Perry can lick my sweaty balls!

Yeah Niel said he used to see all guys in the crowd and then came Lover Lips and he saw babes in the crowd.

I'm sorry I just can't help myself when it comes to this guy.

I have a friend ex room-mate says everytime he hears Perry he thinks of me.

At an A's game,we were bleacher bums ,same people every game back when it cost $3 to get in and $3 a beer and you could walk out to your car and refill your cup, hell we even burned right there in the stands.

Anyway we used to chant shit at opposing teams and one time when in between innings they were playin "Lights" and I started a Steve Perry sucks chant.

We were for the most part all ex hippies this is like 1985.

:missingte Noooo, not a guy named Bad Co, ex hippee? haha

You were the anti-me in the 1980's it sounds like...we called them 'heads' it was the heads or the jocks...I'll never forget the time my sister called me a jock as if she was insulting me....I was like 'uhh, yeah okay and you are a what'?

But to each his own anymore...kids needed to fit in I suppose, I never cared much for worrying about what others thought...I do respect others tastes without being insulting though, as long as they're not throiwng it at anyone...

Now those loud mouthed rapper lovin types , I really can't think of much good to say about them...it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't throw it at everyone...you can hear the base thumpin a minute before they arrive, they get out . with pants 5 sizes to big hanging off their asses...someday hopefully they will realize how retarded they looked and acted.

Journey's Steve Perry Thinks Sopranos Finale Hit Right Note
WEDNESDAY JUNE 13, 2007 08:40 AM EDT

By Bryan Alexander

While fans might wish the Sopranos could go on and on and on, at least one of the 11.9 million viewers of the show's Sunday finale felt the controversial ending hit the right note.

Former Journey frontman Steve Perry co-authored the 1981 song "Don't Stop Believin'," which provided the soundtrack for Tony Soprano's final HBO moments. He talked to PEOPLE.com about holding on to the feeling.

PEOPLE: When did you get the request to use the song for the finale?
Steve Perry: A few weeks [ago]. I needed to know how this song was going to be used. I didn't want the song to be part of a blood-bath, if that was going to be the closing moment. In order for me to feel good about approving the song use, they had to tell me what happened. And they made me swear that I would not tell anybody. The song use actually just got approved last Thursday.

Was there any even implied threat that you'd get whacked if you told anybody the ending?
(Laughs.) Yeah, Tony was gonna whack me if I talked. No, I didn't get any life threats. But I had to keep it quiet. I had friends that were really upset at me. They knew I knew.

Where did you end up watching the show?
I watched it here in my house in Del Mar; I'm just north of San Diego. On my flat screen, yeah. Hi def, by the way. (Laughs.) Actually, I was home alone that night.

The Sopranos Finale: What's the Verdict? What was it like from your couch?
I loved when Tony is going through the little jukebox at the table. They stayed really tight on Tony Bennett, and I thought, "Well, there it is, Tony would play Tony Bennett." He presses the buttons and the next thing you know a Journey song starts. But the tension was insane. I'm getting worried that he's being whacked. And then they cut back, and Tony looks up and it goes black. In my opinion, he sees his daughter, but I guess we'll never know the ending. But the point of the song playing is that you just don't give up, life goes on even if you're the Sopranos. It doesn't matter what you do for a living. In the midst of his turbulent life and everything, there's always this sense of family and this sense of dreams and hopes for some kind of normalcy – some kind of don't-give-up, don't-stop-believing feeling. I actually shouted "All right!" at the end.

What's the reaction been?
The phone has been ringing off the hook and my email has been on fire. One friend e-mailed me, "Congratulations. The end of the entire legacy of the Sopranos ended with your song." What bigger honor is that?

Have you gotten a call from The Simpsons or anyone else with a show about to end?
You know, South Park might be next.

Thanks for posting that Buster....Steve Perry is such a damn hotdog.

BTW- that is a great rendition of Escape...best I've heard by anyone else....damn, that was really close...that's the closest I've heard since I saw him at the DC Armory in Feb 2nd 1994.
