Are there any places that specialize in that ?

If people will pay to have dog poop picked up, which they could easily do themself, would they pay ( enough) to have you build stuff for them ?

Stuff that you buy in a box and have to assemble like :

furniture ( esp. Sauder)
gas grills
all kinds of other stuff

You wouldn't need more than basic tools, but that stuff can sure be a pain to build.

It's like it takes 45 minutes to build the first one, then you could do another one in 5 minutes, because you now know how.

I guess the competition is the local small job handyman type.

It would seem to take too long for the money you could charge, that's my first thought....those grills are time consuming even for the handiest of handymen....on the other hand people will overpay for this sort of work, enough people overpay for many things they could do themselves that is human nature in 2007....

I was reading last night Doug that the dog walking /pet sitting business is still expected to soar and there's no better time to get into that...I still can't see it but I'm more practical then most.

I could definetly see people not wanting to Fuck with this stuff, or being unable to do it ( esp. women).

If you look on craigslist there are a lot of people that do that. Specifically with outdoor play structures for kids. I can't imagine someone paying more than $20 or $30 to have you assemble a grill for them. Doesn't seem like it would be worth it for something like that. Who knows though.

That's a bit much to take on. You'd have to know that area well, maybe need a contractor's license in CT ? You're getting into plumbing and electrical.

no he was hooked up with high end furniture stores etc.he mostly repaired dings etc that may have happened in transit.he did do other things such as grills swingsets etc and made nice money on stuff like that.it is all dependent on how much something cost to begin with.if it was 1000 dollar swingset or whatever many people would not blink to pay a couple hundred bucks to assemble

just an example from me. bought 2 ceiling fans from lowes for 140.00 paid 60 to have them installed

I was thinking more stuff you could do without a helper, Swing set probably requires setting in concrete, returning, and having help.

fans and light fixtures are easy, but you're probably supposed to be a licensed electrician in some states.

Isn't that how you get the big money? If you didn't need licenses then any guy could do it and the market price would be a lot cheaper. The gov't requires licensing to protect their buddies from poor people trying to steal their work.

Depends on the items you are going to assemble.

Gas grills I don't think would be that great. Home Depot and Lowes sell them preassembled around here. As long as you have a vehicle or something to transport it in no assembly is needed.

gas grills are a bad example ( and fairly difficult), but you need a truck to move it assembled.

I'm thinking more simple stuff, but what happens when damn parts are missing ?

Also, if one of these widow types get you in the house, they'll have you moving furniture, changing light bulbs, cleaning gutters, and who knows what else ?
