The healthcare in this country is scary enough and now this....woman can't even get help at hospital, while bleeding to death literally.

"Relatives reported she died as police were wheeling her out of the hospital after the officers they had asked to help Rodriguez arrested her instead on a parole violation."

Thats awful. Great police work. Why didnt they just wait and let her go thru the hospital routine first? She obviously wasnt going anywhere. One cop could have overseen this.

Lawsuit will be huge here. Thumbs down on this one.,

You can't make up a more pathetic story involving this situation...just seems inexplicable to me.

not sure i would blame dispatch considering the circumstances, but the hospital and officer on the scene will certainly take a big hit for this one.

This woman was a convicted felon. Does that mean she deserved to die? No. Had she lived up to her parole conditions, she would likely have survived this fine MLK hospital.

Furthermore, it's called a diet. Judging by that picture, she must be pushing 4 bills.

This is tragic, and the ER doctor is at fault, but this is what happens in our medical ER system which is absolutely broken and needs rapid repair.

Currently, a US ER must "stabilize" every patient who comes in. The courts have ruled this means see every patient and do a complete exam. If someone comes in with a sore throat and never complains of foot pain, if you miss a stress fracture in the foot, you will get sued.

Unfortunately, this backs up ERs with 100s of patients who should not be there.

Bottom line is: docs should be able to triage complaints in the waiting room and send all non emergencies on their way without worrying that this cold is the 1/million that is a spinal fluid leak or this fever is the 1/100000 that is meningitis.

Until that happens, very sick people will be missed and delayed.

Don't see how the 911 operator can be blamed; the bottom line is if someone is already at a hospital then there's not much they can do. If I were the one on the phone and I got a call like that I'd definitely think someone was BS'ing me.

Wow, I don't think you could be more insensitive or more of a judgmental ass after reading that post.
Congratulations.

Unfortunately, this backs up ERs with 100s of patients who should not be there.

Besides the risk of suit due to unfortunate rare outcome there are all those uninsured patients who end up using the ER as their primary care physician.

No wonder they're overworked.

A patient who is bleeding out should, however, be fairly obvious.
