Had a chance to watch the new documentary SICKO by Michael Moore, (yeah I know he has his own opinions, but any educated person can read between the lines) and man o man ... I gotta thank god I don't live in the US.

How you guys/gals can go about your daily business/lives, and not do anything about this is just mind blowing. Politics and big business rule over the American people with a iron fist.

How someone can spend millions of dollars a day on military spending, but deny it's people with simple heath care is just so wrong.

How do you do it ? Can't imagine paying $50,000+ or more for tests or surgery that I may need.

glad i don't live with the canadian medical system either...that is a joke too. Sit and wait if your surgery isn't necessary..

If you have a decent job in the states, medical coverage is all there for you for basically nothing.

I get hit by a car tonight, and need emergency surgery. They fix me up and a few weeks later I walk out of the hospital looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. Total Cost $0.00

Happens to me in the US, and I walk out of the hospital, with a $50,000+ (could be more, have no idea) bill to worry about paying.

So once again ... how does one not thank god they don't live in the US in terms of Health Care ? Can't see how anyone can disagree.

That's a big "If".

Look at the restaurant industry for example. If you're a server for a living, you don't have insurance unless you get it from another job, another family member or pay $400 a month on your own.

True, things are pretty fucked up here right now. 90% of the people don't think about the type of shit that's in that documentary, which is just the tip of the iceburg, so they are ignorant of the facts. A lot of censorship in our media.

Don't count us out yet though....

Would be a great platform for someone running for office don't you think ?
On second thought ... what was I thinking. It would be political suicide for anyone to mention such a thing. Never mind ....

They should have worked harder in school. This is the land of the free not the hand of the handouts. Why don't we just pay for everyones medical and buy them food and TV's and Cable and cell phones.

go to a poor town and you will see everyone with cell phones, yet they somehow can't afford to pay for healthcare. What a joke.

So if people could afford a $40 cell phone bill, they should be able to cover health insurance for their whole family?

True .. but why is the US so against it ? Could be because it will cripple big business and the pharmaceutical companies.

I think politics suck, but we have such a guy right now running for president, Ron Paul. He's a republican congressman for 20 years and knows/speaks the truth. No shot of him winning, unfortunately, as some Americans find his viewpoint disturbing. Any move he makes in the polls the media will re-inforce this and knock him down. Doing well now though.

The next president has already been picked. The funny thing is 99.999999999 etc % of American will have to wait till the elections take place to find out who wins. :103631605

If you can't afford health insurance for you family what the hell are you doing with a cell phone? if my kid didn't have health insurance i would saw off my right leg to get her health insurance. There was a time when i wasn't making money and i did everything i could to make sure i had enough money to pay for health insurance for myself. Yeah its expensive, but for basic health insurance its not like you need to be rich.

And there are plenty of government jobs (working in the sanitation department, working in the court system, being a mailman) where you get healthcare and all you need is a high school diploma. Alot of people won't do those jobs because they aren't fancy. The problem with this country is not the government, its the lazy ass dumb people that live in it.

That's unrealistic. You make it sound like there's so many of those jobs out there, we're all covered.

What about the small businesses in this country that can't afford to give their employees health insurance? The companies that have 10 people working for them. What do you suggest for them? Just go out of business?

How about restaurant employees who NEVER get insurance? No one should be servers now. You're done eating out?

The day that all the government jobs with kick ass health benefits are taken is the day i will start to feel sorry.
