I say Stern because he is the man that we know that runs the NBA. I do not think so yet. But if it happens again like this he might. Ratings stunk and that means $$$ and that is not good. This one was pretty bad and the NBA lost a lot of money not only in ratings but a short series. Go 1-16, 2-15, 3-14, etc and let them play. It would be very interesting and the best teams would have a better chance of reaching the finals.

On Dan Patrick Yesterday, He Said Their Were Meetings Set Up With The Tv People[espn And Abc] And Said It Was Up To Them. If Thats What They Want, Tne Nba Would Almost Have To Do It.
He Also Said The Worst Thing That Could Happen In That Format Is Teams 1-16 Or 2-15 Sweeping The 1st Round. Teams Would Have Up To 9 Days Off.

exactly my point so that we have the best two teams in the end. Cavs woulda been gone first round with that format. The NHL should also do the same thing.

never will happen and the nba didn't lose money, they made as much as ever. just because ratings in america were low, you forget ABC has worldwide broadcasting of the game in 200 countries, 46 languages. while were at changing the nba, make sure you change the NFL because the NFC is just as bad as the NBA east, except the east wins titles sometimes.

i see what your saying but they shouldn't overreact like that, all you need is a competitive final series and nobody would be complaining.

How about getting players that understand the game and can actually shoot? For the most part, the NBA is unwatchable.

how about telling players like Varejao to start playing D and stop finding easy way out, flopping is not an answer.

If they were gonna change the format, they would have changed it during the 90s when the Bulls helped the East win 7 of 9 titles from 1990-1998. But Stern wanted Jordan to get his so he left it alone even though the Bulls dominated every Finals series and never got pushed to a 7th game in any championship.

Now the West has won 7 of 9 titles from 1999-2007. If Stern changes it now, it wouldn't be fair to the Western Conference teams that have it easy if they get to the Finals and will face an inferior East team.

I remember when they changed the 1st round format years ago from 5 to 7 games forever known as the "Lakers rule". I know it brought them more loot too. If it makes more money then anything is possible.

Seeding the teams would be great - and don't base it on record alone - base it on opinion - play down the stretch - injuries - series appeal - I probably would have had Dallas #1 playing the Warriors #16 rather than the Wizards because of the match up - I would have had SA #2 playing #15 Washington and Phoenix #3 playing the #14 Magic and the Pistons would have been the 4th seed - no way possible the Cavs make the finals this way.

since you only play 2 games against the other conference during the Regular season in the first round of playoffs have all 8 matchups be east vs. west

the 8,7,6 and 5 seeded teams would play the other conferences 1,2,3 and 4 seeds.

Then after that round reseed again based soley on regular season record and seed 1-8. then when your down to 4 teams reseed again 1-4.

The ABC network TV contract expires at the end of the upcoming 2007-2008 season and the networks want the chance to have 2 best teams in the finals with the money their paying, I say there is a good chance there is a change to the format going in to the 2008-2009 season.
