I logged on to cheapovegas.com because I haven't seen the newest casinos since my last visit and I wanted to compare best poker rooms/sports books/clubs etc. etc. etc.

Most casinos will give you a 1 deck blackjack game, but will only give you 6:5 now on a natural instead of 3:2 on blackjack.

WTF IS THAT?

Why would anybody play 21 that pays 6:5?

When exactly did this happen?

It's only gonna get worse. Sooner or later, it will be even money, with a coupon for a free shot along with your next drink.

Everyone should run when they see it.:discuss:

That is the only solution. If everyone refuses to play they will have to take it down. But there are so many people playing the game that don't have a clue as to the correct way to play it isn't likely to happen.

it's huge on the strip - especially at HET properties

most tourists don't know the first thing about gambling, and you will see those tables full while a 3:2 table has empty chairs

Part of the excitement in BJ is getting that 10 slapped on the A and getting paid 3:2

6:5 just sucks the fun out of playing. It does for me anyways.

I wish noob tourists were smart enough to boycott it.

Harrahs leading the way in greed.

They started this about 2 years ago and it's not just for single deck games. That's the payoff on all their blackjack games for 21.

Last year there were only a few 3-2 SD's around, and all downtown at dumpier places

Cortez
Western
4Queens

6-5 on a shoe is awful.

You probably have to count and vary bets by 20X to have +EV

With 3:2, you can have a good time and not count and have a decent shot at having a profitable session.

It's a great game for casuals.

With 6:5, you might as well play the wheel of fortune slots.

Ballys used to advertise 6/5 on the marquee out near the street.
You might be surprised at how many people think 6/5 is more than 3/2.

That's almost funny !

6-5 costs you 1.39% which is significant, ups the house edge from about .26% to 1.65% ( with solid play).

It's still better than most slots, but you'd need ridiculous bet spreads ( and counting) to win.

About 4 to 5 years ago, the Alladin was supposedly in bankruptcy. I went inside and they had about 10 active tables dealing blackjack. All but 2 of them were single deck with BJs paying 6 to 5. My thought at the time was they must really be desperate for money.

if you sat at a bj table (single deck) for an hour how many times are you getting a black jack? just trying to understand why getting 6/5 rather than 3/2 would make you quit playing.

thanks

You will receive a BJ about once in every 22 hands ~.

Why would that cause someone to stop playing?

If you are losing 1.39% more, then:

If you are playing $25/hand, and getting 40 hands per hour,

you are losing $14 an hour more than the normal loss. And,
that doesn't even take into consideration splits and double downs.

How many tourists are playing 'correctly' zero to none.they are more than happy to give there money away.this just makes it go faster.they will never boycott 6/5 when they do not even take the time to learn basic method

Well keep in mind that it is MUCHHHHHH easier to count cards when you have already seen 3 or 4 aces out of the deck. You lower your bet for the next 2 hands or so.

There are alot of players winning money at that game if you have good card counting skills. You can also remember WHICH low cards that you have seen to determine if you should take a hit on 14-16 or so . You might even want to hit on 17 depending on what you have seen if the dealer has a face card or ace showing

Why, what is the difference? If you are a counter then yes it is a difference, but for someone just playing basic strategy, it means nothing.
