Becoming Illegal (From a Maryland resident to his senator)

The Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes
Senate Office Building
309 Hart
Washington DC, 20510

Dear Senator Sarbanes,

As a native Marylander and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue
Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the
Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process
for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to
illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the
Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's
provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the Unit ed
States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a
$2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years.
I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the
process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay
taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two
years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way
that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an
excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes
in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local
emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have
stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant
figures I could save almost $10,000 a year. Another benefit in
gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive
preferential treatment relative to her law school applications,
as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout
the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the
burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome
car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I
still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become
illegal (retroactively I f possible) and copies of the necessary forms,
I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistanc e.

Your Loyal Constituent,
Pete McGlaughlin

The media talking heads mention amnesty and the border but what they fail to address is the real heart of the problem. The unequal distribution of costs and benefits and the probability of enforcement actually occurring. The people hiring illegals do great but for everyone else the costs are high and the trickle down benefits are trivial. They also fail to mention that illegals are often hired by people who want to cheat on taxes and regulations. They talk about a nation of immigrants but dont mention that during previous waves of immigration the US didnt have a welfare state. Nor had immigrants been exposed to decades of anti-American and socialist propaganda. They propose to double the security on the Mexican border. There is no basis in experience or logic that leads to the assumption this will reduce illegal immigration to negligible levels. Which brings up employment enforcement. In order to enforce the visa requirements the gov will have to establish data bases and hire personnel to verify info on employment and taxes(or refer info to IRS). They will also have to have another dept. or program to approach it from the employer end to cover new illegals, people who dont apply for visas or who apply but decide two identities are better than one. The IRS has a budget of 12 billion. The voluntary compliance rate though is actually very high. The illegals are currently 100% non-compliers. Where is the money and talent going to come from to make this viable? If it is enforced how many illegals will lose their job or business if forced above ground?

hey roadreeler

i see we are from the same area.i bet this business owner will regret the day he decided to hire illegals.i guarantee this goes on at more kitchens than we think

CHINA GROVE, N.C. – Captain’s Galley, the restaurant linked to an E. coli outbreak in Rowan County, has been shut down after health officials confirmed that a goat was slaughtered inside the restaurant.
The Rowan County Health Department announced today they learned of the slaughter from an anonymous tip by a former employee, which was confirmed by management and ownership.
They’re not saying the slaughter is the exact cause of the E. coli outbreak, which sickened 20 people and killed one woman. But health officials say it is biologically plausible that the goat slaughter may have been the source of the outbreak.
Officials say it happened in the kitchen sometime between May 11 and May 20, after the restaurant was closed for the night. It does not appear that goat was served to customers.
It is possible, however, that kitchen utensils used to slaughter the goat may have been used later on in other food preparation, but that has not been confirmed.
The former employee who reported the incident worked at Captain’s Galley at the time of the slaughter, but is no longer employed there.
The restaurant management and their attorney did not protest the health department’s decision to shut them down. The owners say they are appalled by the acts of a few employees and have taken appropriate action against those employees.
Health officials said eight cases of E. coli, a bacterial infection of the stomach and intestines, have been confirmed, and another 12 are probable. Everyone who got sick ate at the restaurant between May 26 and June 3.
Faye Sides, 86, ate at the restaurant with family members after church on May 27, and she died last week. Both the health department and the owners of Captain’s Galley restaurant expressed their deepest sympathies to the Sides’ family.

I was just informed about some of the details of this bill. Its a total scam. The probation/visa process will be a rubber stamp. 24 hrs after applying they will receive probation status and social security card. No real verification about employment status, criminal record, etc. Its no enforcement all over again. And why wont new illegals arrive and lie about when they arrived or their real identity?

What is the real reason this bill is being pushed through? Why is this bill being shoved down our collective throats when the citizens of this country as a majority are against it? It is obvious that the politicians don't give a crap about the citizens of this country.

The reason Texansfan? Follow the money. The strategy of rich and poor uniting to soak the middle and working class isnt original. Even importing poor from abroad has many precedents in history. The real backbone of working class/small farmer support for the Union in the Civil War was from people worried that the potential spread of slavery would hurt their future economic chances.

Just a note to tell you that my mailbox is being flooded with mail
concerning gas prices and illegal immigrants. To boycott oil Companies
or
not; to provide amnesty to illegal immigrants or not, etc. Since I have
become jaded to the various solutions proposed by the Republicans,
Democrats, Sierra Club, ACLU, etc., I have elected to solve the
problems
as they affect me. My response solves both my gas and illegal
immigrant
problems.... I have hired illegal immigrants to push my car. They're
plentiful and cheaper than buying gas. Then I pay them in Pesos so
they
have to go home to spend it.
Don't you love it when a plan comes together?

"yes I am a Criminal, But we are helping this country wealthy".

The justification of being a criminal because you think that you are making the world go around is ludicrous. In my opinion, you are no better than a common street corner drug dealer looking to improve his financial situation at the expense of society.

You are only helping to enrich yourself at the expense of everyone law biding American citizen. It is people like you that ARE bringing the rest of us down. You are stealing from the treasury, you are burdening the infrastructure, stagnating wages, all for your own personal benefit.

The vast majority of people that DO make the world go around do not need the crutch of illegal aliens to support their lifestyle.

I do hope one day that all of you criminals are held accountable for your crimes, including paying the back taxes. If you are ruined, so what, you have it coming.

Law biding citizens are paying their taxes, hiring LEGAL workers, and they will be rewarded once you are put out of business.

Finally, any criminal enterprise that requires illegal activity in order to sustain itself must be eliminated from our country.

If the portrait of a "Saint" is one that has never been arrested, does not break the law, that pays taxes (property, state, federal), and has NEVER received a red cent (other than a tax refund) from the government (local, state, or federal), never taken a government student loan or grant, has an unpaid outstanding debt to anyone anywhere, has excellent credit, then you can call me a Saint.

I will still label you a common criminal.

The method of thievery (robbing a bank, peddling drugs, hiring illegal aliens), or your self justiying excuses (giving people a better life, fulfilling dreams, food on the table) is completely, totally, irrelevant.

The reality is that you make more profit by breaking the law.

Plain and simple.

It is a an criminally indefensible position you have assumed and will continue to defend until you are exposed. That is coming.

If you think for one moment that the public is going to indefinitely allow you criminals to go un-punished, you are sadly mistaken.

Laugh while you can, your belongings might be out in the street one day, up to the highest bidder at the IRS auction.

He who laughs last laughs best.
