Can't believe this line, but the way these two teams have been playing, I guess it is about where it should be? I'm sure Bonds isn't playing either. Comments.........

Zito is 6-7...4.41era...Vargas 5-1 3.86 the last 13 games the Brew crew is 10-3 against the giants.........6 out of 9 last year so imo the line is about right and likely will be higher at game time...gl today......ck

The way I see in their stats . it looks There is A big problem between players and team management. They had no confidence in winning.

The Giants are going to be stuck in a rut until they get rid of their GM Sabean (which will be at the end of the year). He employs somewhat of same model as Kenny Williams has in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1:place>Chicago</st1:place></st1:City>, in which he builds a team nucleus around old, gritty veteran players that have something to prove. This model is a high risk model that could get ugly, and it is shaping up to be such right now. In past years, Saban got away with it because Bonds was able to carry the team, something that he just can’t do anymore.

Right now, books know that they could slap any price tag on the Giants and the public won’t bite. There is no denying that Zito is coming at a bargain against a lineup that he fundamentally matches up well against. A lot of people are failing to quantify that Vargas actually has a higher WHIP than the last couple of years, and his lowered ERA is more of a product of good luck and being able to get out of bases loaded jams that may not be sustainable. It is quite apparent he is getting too much respect with this line.

If you plan to bet on the Giants, hold off to the last minute, as you should see late public money on the Brewers as they continue to blindly fade the Giants no matter the price, and seeing Bonds and Molina out of the lineup should move the line a few more cents.
<o:p> </o:p>
Good luck.

their weekday afternoon lineups are usually pitiful. Wait and see what each team puts out on the field.

Zito still has a name in baseball, so I'm not so sure the action will be lopsided towards the Brew Crew. Vargas was terrible in Arizona and he has been definitely lucky this season. However, the team behind him plays with a lot of confidence and if Zito doesn't get his act together, it might be a long afternoon. The question is if the Giants will be another team that lets Vargas off the hook. The kid is going to hit a brick wall, and the only question is when it's going to happen.

I had the same question

I had also asked this question.......

To all the line watchers and money movers out there.....is this line inviting Brewers money? Zito not on his game last 2 outs but did pitch well vs Philly, never pitched in this park(if I am correct). Really looking at Zito on the PLUS side of greenbacks.....only scary thought would be Brewers do generate a run or 3 and the lowly Giants offense cant produce vs Vargas as they are struggling for runs wit or without Balco..I mean Barry, who may sit out.

Please feel free to give your $0.02, as it will be appreciated and I cant help but to think about Zito as a dog!!!! Thanks in advance to any and all contributors.

I am just about ready to bite the Zito bullet, Brew Crew a better team no doubt....but can Zito control the bats especially with Weeks also in the line up and Molina and Balco out today.
Only response I keep finding is Giants suck and Vargas has this # at home and so far this year.....is Vegas pulling one on us??

If anything, I actually think this line is trying to lure in people on the nice price that Zito offers. If the lineups are what I'm expecting, I'll be pulling the trigger on the Brew Crew.

Be Careful With Zito

Don't get too wrapped up in Zito. We all remember his 23-5 season, but that was 5 years ago. He isn't the pitcher that people think he is anymore. His first four years his record was 61-29 with an yearly ERA ranging from a low of 2.72 to a high of 3.49. The next four years, including this one, he was just 47-41, with an ERA ranging from a low of 3.83 to a high of 4.48. I'm still going to fade the Giants.

Giant's line up, NO Bonds or Visquel but Molina is playing.

The Giants actually seem to play better when Barry's out. He can then come up to bat later in a big situation. I've won on them a couple of times when they played day games without him. I'm on the Giants. Good value.

Brewers are a team with a winning record, and especially at home...on paper even Zito's stats included this is more lopsided than it looks...

Having said that the Giants will probably score 10 today.
