Miguel Tejada, who suffered a bruised wrist Wednesday, was pulled for a pinch-runner after bunting into a fielder's choice in the first inning of Thursday's game.

How ridiculous. Tejada's consecutive games streak is worthless if this is what he'll do to extend it. The Orioles knew in advance that this was how it would play out, as they moved Tejada up to the second spot in the order to accomodate him.

He should have sat out...give that man an asterisk! :think2:

Miguel Tejada grew up idolizing the Baltimore Orioles SS Cal Ripken Jr....

I wonder if Cal would have????? :ughhh:

Do you really believe that... I remember him doing that a few times... more then the one that was just shown there

Facts??? I think I would know this...Ripken never played one inning or pinch hit..that is bullshit...he never played one inning to keep the streak alive...Lou Gehrig did, but not Ripken....if you're gonna tell me he did this, bring proof.

to my knowledge cal played everygame till at leaset the bottom of the 5th..that was how MLB designated it a completed game played in...i know the only changed the sign in right field (with the numbers on it) after the 5th inning

Cal played every single inning for many years straight...he never played an inning or pinch hit to keep the streak going....the above two posters are guessing.

Journey I was around in the 80s. I know he was tough but I also remember vividly many many times they would question if the streak was hurting his play.

Even managers wanted to sit him down and could not.

How is that better for the team?

WAIT WAIT WAIT...I KNEW you would twist this around and try and get me into a different debate....LOL

I never said anything about whether or not it was good or bad that he played all those games straight....nice try junior, I'm not going there.

streak should only count if you play 5 innings.

similar to what a pitcher has to do to get a win.

Journey- im not twisting anything. Not looking for a scrap just a good old fashioned talk.

I stand by the fact that he got kicked out of two games in the first inning that looked very fishy

I don't particularly like Cal...nothing against him but was never a huge Cal fan...I can't defend his streak..

I will say this though about Cal, he was a great great fielder, and he gets ragged for that...he was a much better defensive player than most people give him credit for...his stupid streak overshadowed a lot of things...it would be real interesting to see where Cal would have been without the streak.....

I pretty much watched his entire career on TV, Cal was a very good player, he was no Eddie Murray.

I can remember when he came up , and remember thinking, 'this guy's only here because of his dad'....man, long time ago now.

I was up at his baseball facility a couple weeks ago just looking around, last time I was up there , the park was brand new and the other parks were not even built yet.... what a complex...

He has all these mini stadiums (replicas) surrounding the minor league park....it's like a kids fantasy land...he has little league parks with the same dimensions as the real ones, but factored down for little league...it really is something....he has a mini Camden, mini Old Memorial, mini Fenway, mini Wrigley and a bunch of other parks....and all the parks have manicured grass like a MLB field.
