Bud Smith has a no-hitter though.

Great accomplishment, but a bit overrated accomplishment as well.

RJ has one. But he has made more career starts than you have gone to the bathroom in a years time.

the difference between a no-hitter and a perfect game is massive imo.
with a perfect game, there is no pitching around hitters and no hit batters or control issues. thats why you occasionally see mediocre pitchers, even some no-names, flirt with no-hitters. but only the best of the best flirt with perfect games. you need to be dominant and have nasty stuff to get through a major league lineup unscathed 3 straight times. hate to say that the no-hitter is overrated, but it certainly is quite different from a perfect game.

Jim Palmer threw 1 no hitter vs Oakland, but he walked 8 guys...there is a big difference between a no-hitter and a perfect game....in another Orioles no-hitter oddly enough against Oakland as well, they used 5 pitchers...

Both of these no-no's lack something.

A no-hitter thread would not be legit without mentioning, legendary Nolan Ryan who threw 7 no hitters, but even more remarkable, he had 12- 1 hitters...for a total of 19 complete game 1 or 0 hit games!

* He never pitched a complete game without atleast one walk.

Wasnt Palmer the first player to try and play after being elected to the hall?

That didnt go so well. Dont think he made it past spring training.

I was rooting for him to do it though.

He came back briefly , pitched an inning against the Red Sox in spring training, his hamstring popped 'like a Rice Krispy' (his description) and that was it...

I remember watching the comeback inning, it was much publicized-the Sox got to him pretty good in that one inning....and that was it.

Carlton never threw a no hitter, but pitched 6 one hitters

Koufax is second most behind Ryan's 7 with 5 (no hitters, that is).
