MistaFlava's 2007 MLB Record: 40-46 (-16.15 Units)
My record has been updated. I took buffetgamblers final tabulation of what I had posted this year and this is what he came up with (1-4 day yesterday included with unit size). I don't have a problem posting my record and have never had a problem posting it in the past. I just never posted one in MLB this season so this is a start. Those who follow me know that after my 50 and 100 unit losses in CFB and NFL, I had no problems posting my record with units loss so cut the shit. I have now won 3 of my last 4 big plays of the day but got out of the way yesterday to lose two parlays which hit me hard in the wallet. Time to get back on track and make some cash today.

Colorado Rockies ML +111 (5 Units) ***PLAY OF THE DAY***
You know I don't fade my hometown Blue Jays too often and I don't do it because I hate cheering against them but sometimes money means more than cheering for a team you are pissed off at and believe me when I say that it's time to fade these Jays. The Colorado Rockies are coming off a three game sweep of the New York Yankees (all three games as home underdogs) and the oddsmakers still don't give a rats ass. Not only has their pitching been outstanding but their bats have come alive over recent weeks and now they move into an AL ballpark that allows a lot of home runs and they get to use an extra batter in their lineup. So what the hell gives here guys? The Rockies are now 8-2 in their last 10 games where they have hit .303 in those games and have a team combined ERA of 2.53 in those games. I think it's safe to call these guys the hottes team in MLB right now on both the pitching and the hitting side of things. What's even funnier to me is that the Blue Jays are seding Josh Towers to the mound tonight and I have been saying for 3-4 years now that he should never pitch in the major leagues yet the Jays keep going to him and they keep paying the price for it. They are 0-3 in his last three starts where he has an ERA of 6.89 and a WHIP of 1.21 which indicates that the timing of the runs he gives up is horrendous. His team does not play for him as they average only 2.5 runs of support per game he has started this season (six games) and there is no reason for that to change tonight. In his one and only career start against the Rockies, Towers as lit up for 5 runs in 5 innings and like I said before, he is not a major league pitcher. The Jays are making a big mistake by sending him out against the hottest hitting lineup in baseball right now (with the added bat tonight). Look for the Rockies to hit him hard and hit him early as they have all that momentum of the Yankees sweep.
The Toronto Blue Jays are my team, I love this team but it's time to, as Shea Hillenbrand wrote on the clubhouse wall last year, 'Watch the ship shink' with John Gibbons managing these guys. Not only is our $123 million dollar man Vernon Wells not performing or even showing up for games, Gibbons has now become one of the worst in-game managers in all of baseball. I know some of you are excusing him for putting in Janssen yesterday but I for one am not. Scott Downs was pitching just fine going 1.1 innings and giving up one hit and he was a lefty. Nomar Garciaparra hates lefties this year yet Gibbons takes out Downs and throws in a righty. It made no sense whatsoever, the Dodgers were as good as done and he blew the game. That was a demoralizing loss that could start the downfall of this team. The Jays are now 5-5 in their last 10 games where they have hit only .261 and their pitching has been so-so. However, like I mentioned earlier they have Josh Towers on the mound and that is disaster...and somehow he's favored. On the mound for the Rockies is Jason Hirsh who has pitched really well in his last three starts going 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP, allowing only 16 hits in 19.1 innings of work. He is backed up by a bullpen that has an incredible ERA of 0.90 in their last 10 games and he has the pleasure of facing a Jays lineup that is batting a pathetic .234 at home versus right handed pitchers. Hirsh has pitched a lot better away from home (3.68 ERA) than at Coors Field (5.63 ERA) and I think he can bring some of the good tonight and keep this dormant Blue Jays lineup sleeping for another night. The Jays are really pissing me off and until Gibbons is fired, things are not about to change around here. Fade these guys!
You don't see me fading my team too often so when I do, hear out what I have to say because it means something and it means I have one of those gut feelings. The Jays are the only major league team in the last 6-7 years that has not won more than six straight games which is a good indication of how much consistency they have lacked over the years. When they are hot, they get cold and when they are cold, they stay cold. Colorado is now 8-1 in their last nine game as a road underdog, they are now 7-1 in their last eight games versus the American League East and they are now 17-4 in their last 21 games as an interleague underdog. I can tell you that this is because they are a good hitting lineup that is granted an extra batter on the road in interleague play and it makes a huge difference in the end. Colorado is also up against a Blue Jays team that is 1-7 in their last eight home games versus a team with a winning overall record (1-5 versus teams with a winning road record) and Josh Towers has not exactly been winning them games. The Jays are 3-13 in Towers last 16 home starts versus a team with a winning record and 1-7 in Towers last eight interleague game starts (he just lost to the Nationals on Sunday). Safe enough to say that the matchup and the price favor the Rockies in this one.
