The Tigers traded Mike Maroth to the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, in order to clear room on the active roster for the return of Kenny Rogers.
It's still unclear who Detroit has received in return.

In what would be his final start with the Tigers, he allowed four earned runs in five innings -- and contributed a double -- in a victory over Washington on Monday night.

Kenny would be a huge boost of he can return to last years form for the 2nd half, this could work out real nice for Detroit....he will be fresher in the fall too.

I have no idea why but I am rooting for him.

horribile may be a little strong but I agree that the Tigers just got to good for him and they have WAY better options availbile.
I'm pretty sure you agree with me....He is similar to Zach Duke...but with zero potential. The Tigers were lucky to even get crumbs for him nice job by them.

I agree. I have watched thru the past few years. He seems like a helluva nice guy but you are dead right easily replaced.

Servicable guy that has the ability to at least keep you in ball games. I'm surprised they let him go for jack shit. They never did say who the Tigers got in return for Maroth so its probably just some cash. Maybe the national league scene will better off suit him, but its not like the guy is a total gas can.

We'll take him. It could work out well for us, and at worst he is a good patchwork for this season.

Cards definitely needed the pitching and with their mediocre division actually have a chance to make a run at the Central. Maroth was expendable for Detroit and wasn't in the long term plans so they passed him off.
Win/win for both teams.

It is amazing that Detroit is getting anything for Maroth and Ledezma, because they are out of options on these guys and would be lost for nothing to the waiver wire. They are also out of options on Byrdak, Seay, and a couple others.

it's for a player to be named later which means Detroit was given a list of 3 or 4 minor league players and they get to pick one of them by a certain date.
