I highly doubt it - I think internet legend is where his fighting ends - how is he going to have any success with no ground game and questionable stand up at best - boy I'd love to see Mirko plant that LHK across that goatee - he'll probably lose to Mercer - it's here in Miami and I would love to go but I'm certain there will be several stabbings at the fight so I'll wait for TV - could you imagine the crowd that goes to see Kimbo versus Mercer in Kimbo's first real fight in Miami - might as well just hold it at San Quentin.

It is not in Miami, it is in Atlantic City.

Kimbo is training with Bas Rutten. Rutten is a MMA legend and knows his stuff so he must see something in Kimbo.

I'd expect Kimbo is in much better shape and has trained harder, but Mercer definitely has the edge if it stays standing. Kimbo is probably going to look for a takedown, and get it. That is why Kimbo is favored... he's the stronger fighter and probably has a nice advantage on the ground. Once Mercer is on his back, he's not going to be able to do anything to stop it. Mercer is the play at this price but I see Kimbo finishing the fight on top of Mercer.

Jake, I know you're into this stuff. Any thoughts on Shamrock being a dog?

Pinny has it at -105 either way so I'm not sure if Shamrock opened as a dog or what. I really haven't been paying attention to the smaller events.

I think it's fairly likely that Shamrock subs Baroni although I'm rooting for the New York Bad Ass.

Baroni has some sub knowledge but really has only done anything against lesser fighters. Shamrock needs to avoid the big hit and take Baroni down and he should win fairly easily, either by sub or decision.

Frank has only been knocked out once in a long career so apparently he's pretty decent at avoiding the big shot.

Baroni is no slouch but I'd make Frank a -135 favorite or so. Value on Shammy.

Other UFC bets:

Manny -110 over Nate Diaz

Manny's short and stout and is going to be hard for Diaz to sub. The only way I see Nate winning is by decision but he hasn't shown he's strong enough to take a guy like Manny down, much less hold him there. The only way I see Diaz winning is if he just runs from Manny all day and keeps his distance and just uses the jab. I can't see a Diaz brother fighting a fight like that. Manny via decision. Should be -150.

Emerson +321 over Gray Maynard

Emerson showed decent takedown defense and he's experienced. Gray looks very good but he's still really new to the sport. Gray probably wins, but should not be this big of a dog at all.

Lauzon at -530 over Melendez is a nice bet but I'm not gonna touch the juice. Melendez will keep it standing and Lauzon will likely catch him. If not, Lauzon can take him down at will and GNP him. I like Melendez, he actually beat my roommate about 8 months ago, but that's a bad matchup for him. I'm not betting it, but it has some value if huge favs are someone's bag.

Never heard of Bas Rutten. I will take Mercer though. I don't think Kimbo has the endurance. When is the fight?

Bas is one of the greats. One of the first rounded MMA fighters.
