I've been doing it for over 3 years now and couldn't imagine going to the store, loading and unloading the car, etc. Whenever I tell someone I order my groceries and they deliver them to my door, they look at me like I'm an alien. Then when I explain it to them, they proceed to tell me how much they hate grocery shopping.

Not allowed to tip. It is $9.95 delivery fee, but they send you $10 off coupons in the mail. If you get it certain days or times it is an additional 5% off.
So for the advantage/+EV shopper it costs about 5%-7% less than going to the store, plus they bring it to you, plus you do not have "impulse" purchases.

wow...can't argue w/ $9.95...great idea.

The $9.95 is worth, not having to wait in line behind an eldery person counting change or a house mom w/ 4 kids debating each charge...or my personal favorite, having a person w/ a cart full of stuff for the 'express line'.

Which super markets do you use?

I have been doing this for 1 year from Safeway! at 150+ its 4.95 delivery charge then with 4 hour delivery window 2.95. Once every month they send me promo codes for free pans or free delivery too. Yes, they take tips although its says they don't. I tip small like 5$. You have to check your bill close! I ordered Asiago cheese 2lbs at 18$ and got a 5$ chunk. I just called the 800 # and had the entire thing deleted. Also sometimes they forget something and I call and get it taken care of. They save everything you have ever ordered to make it easy to shop next time! Loving it!

Is it a third party which delivers the groceries or is it the store itself? Which companies?

Also, how long does the process take? I put in an online order on Monday, when will I see my groceries?

My brother is in the States for the summer, staying with me for 3 months. He is bussing tables and makes no money so can't really pay any rent.

Polishing my shoes, cleaning my golf clubs, washing the cars and going FOOD SHOPPING are among his slave duties.

I get mine from Albertsons. Vons also delivers but I didn't like their website as much for ordering.
They say 24 hours, but I've gotten them in about 16 or less.
You give them a 1 1/2 hour window when you want them delivered.

Dub,
I tried to tip the guy first time and he pointed to the part in bold that said no tips. I haven't done it since. Believe me I would tip these guys as they are busting their butt in this heat and carrying crates of groceries upstairs to me.

It is the store itself that delivers it. Probably depends on your area who delivers.

Go to website, shop for the stuff you want. Like someone said, you can save it to a list. I end up putting a bunch of stuff in my shopping cart and then editing it out until I get down to the amount I want.

One big advantage is if you want to spend say $200 on groceries, you can completely control that. If you went to the store, you would have to guess or walk around with a calculator.

that sounds too good to be true...do they pick out your meat too? I suppose certain things could be a problem...I can't see how this is profitable for the delivery people, unless the story is discounting part of the price to them.

grocerygateway.com for me up in Toronto. Place my order one day the next morning its at my door. My friends think im lazy however. I like that it saves my order so I can just pick and choose the stuff from my previous list instead of starting all over again every time.

:smoker2: Where I live the houses are close to each other and when that Genaurdi's truck pulls up, I'm king of the street with all the Milf's checking out the scene.

I can't tell you how many neighbors comment when the delivery guy comes.
The store hires the delivery guys, it's not a third party.
I asked the guy if they take tips and he pointed to the sheet in bold print and said he'd get fired. I said I won't tell you deserve it, and he said thanks but no thanks.

If you get a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and meat it could be a problem. I do get steaks and stuff and never had a complaint about them from me.
