I just got a speeding...been about 2.5 years since my last bunch of tickets....son of a b&#@h!

I'll give you the facts, tell me if this is contestable.....

1) ticket says 53 in a 35

2) cop cited me by pacing

3) it was downhill

4) speed limit was 45, changed to 35 about a mile before the ticket

5) I was in the left lane and had to get in my right lane, i sped up (45 to 50) and car next to me sped up also, i took another step up (I guess to 53) and the car started flashing some lights

Is there any point in contesting this? If so, is point #5 gonna hurt me if I mention this?

any input appreciated....thanks

The way I see it, I can't see you beating this.
If it's he said, she said, you know the court is going to side with the PD.
Even if it was 45 mph zone, you were 8 mph over the limit, ticky-tack? yes, but ..................

and no, this won't come back to haunt you if you don't get another ticket any time soon.

Call up one of the trafic ticket firms in your area - like the Ticket Clinic, Ticket Masters, etc., - for aproximately $80 (all costs) they will take care of it for you - my prediction, this cop will not show up and the case will be dismissed - take my advice on this one - I must have gotten 10 tickets in the last 3 years - one for going 97 and the cop said I only slowed down to 97 because there was traffic ahead - he wasn't lying - but he never showed for court and the case was tossed - if you pay the ticket it will probably cost more than the attorney's fees and you'll get points assessed on your license - now, disregard any other advise and call one of these ticket firms and thank me later.

Depends on the ticket, but a run of the mill traffic violation will stay on NO MORE than 3 years. A single ticket will cause your insurance to go up some, but the time and effort it takes to do all the recommended things above, you are better off just paying it and moving on.

If you pay the ticket it will show up for insurance companies and in the court system for at least 3 years - call up one of the clinics, give them a credit card number and it's done - and you pay less than what the ticket is going to cost.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

I don't know about HI., but around here the cop shows up 95% of the time. Not good odds.

As for fighting the ticket. If you have the time and determination, do it. If you do some homework, you can present a good case. I recommend trying motorists.org (ticket fighting section).

What they do around here in Pa is take the points off if you go to court. You plead guilty to some lesser thing and pay the fine but get no points.

Common tactic to sit just past the speed limit drop point. A buddy of mine fought a similar ticket on a road that was basically a highway entrance ramp.

The judge told him that he knew exactly where he was talking about, and it was bullshit-but the ticket was still valid. I think he cut the fine in 1/2 though.

2 years on your record, 3 on insurance

might vary by state though.

I thought it was 3 and 7 for DUI's. I haven't had a ticket in ages & all I know is that insurance is still stupid expensive out here-ironically, it's because there are so many uninsured drivers(illegals).

thanks for the responses guys...i've never heard of a ticket clinic...this sounds much better than writing a letter or worse, taking time off work to go to court.

....is this ticket clinic available in HI

....i know we did away with the "points" system here....although speeding will rise insurance costs....

Going to court will defintely help out, they always cut it down for you just for showing up and like others said, if the cop doesn't show up, you're home free!

The real problem with letting a ticket stand (not going to court) is the insurance going up (even if it's just ONE ticket on your record) another ridiculous scam if you ask me.

Cops who walk out on the highway and play God to point you over, because you were 12MPH over a speed limit???....well, we had a trooper get ran over a week ago, his funeral was Friday....a senseless death in so many ways.

Don;t know if this works may be an Urban Legend but here we go.

Overpay the ticket meaning send in more than the fine levied.

They will mail you a refund check and throw it in the garbage.

Your ticket will never be processed?

A cop friend sent me this via e-mail years ago and I posted it at another site and others responded that it is true.

Haven't had a ticket since I got his e-mail so never tried it.

Have been pulled over twice going to work at 2am and both times cop asked where I was going and being fimiliar with my company let me go.

Looking for dui's more than likely.

No they don't.

The prosecuter told me, because I got two other tickets reduced in the last 7 years, that I couldn't reduce the latest one I got. Pts went on my license.

That's interesting that the prosector would tell you this - when it's the judge who makes the decision.
