I had no idea the Giants gave up Liriano and Nathan for Pierzinski

They're talking about that trade now. One year of AJ for that? That's gotta be the worst trade of all-time.

Don't forget Boof Bonser. Far from anything special, but he's ate some innings for the Twin's over the last 2 years.

Edit: Beaten like a misbehaving wife.

Nathan had one good year as a reliever. Every year there are about 20 relievers who pitch that well, then end up sucking.

Liriano was a great prospect, but look at how lincecum has pitched so far this year and how many top pitching prospects turn into busts. And lets not forget that Liriano is out of the season with elbow problems. Not a good sign for a young pitcher.

Boof bonser has a 4.5 ERA this year and is 26 years old already.

That trade was only horrible if you are results oriented.

IMO, Mets would have cruised (or had a better shot) at the WS title last year if they hadn't traded Scott Kazmir for VICTOR ZAMBRANO in 2004.

its amazing to look at past deals...and the current SF lineup...and Brian Sabean still holds a job as Giants' GM.

I mean...he hasent been able to get one bat to give Bonds any cusion.

SF fans...does this guy get criticized at all?

Did you just compare Liriano to Linecum?

I guess I hear what you're saying, in that they had no idea that Liriano was gonna be that good. But AJ only had one year left, and they gave up a motherload of potential for a rent-a-player.

I was referring to before he was traded. But thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Yeah, lincecum is healthy and Liriano is coming off elbow surgery after his first full year in the majors.

Lincecum was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball coming into this year and has not had his elbow opened up.

not trying to be a dick but u said he had ONE good year, did u mean one good year in sf because here is his line the year before getting<TABLE class=player_stats cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left>

those are great numbers for a reliever, sf fucked up big time with this deal... for a one year guy if they traded nathan himself that wouldve been plenty...

i love lincecum by the way, think he is a definite future cy younger, just going through a tough stretch... lets no forget cole hamels went through a similiar stretch last year and ended great and he is a cy young candidate this year...

Pierzinski signed with the White Sox as a free agent, right? Pretty sure he wasn't traded again. Surely I'm wrong, no? If he had only one year left on his deal, that trade is grounds for immediate firing.

correct-

the white sox re-signed AJ to a three year deal in 2005, for like $15 mill.
