Why Would the Phoenix Suns Trade Amare for KG?

I see that this has been reported....why would the Suns do this? Amare fits perfectly in Phoenix, especially running the pick and roll with Nash. Amare is also years younger than KG. Just does not make sense to me.

Not a good trade I agree.

The youth part especially

KG is closer to wrapping up his career than most people realize.

Defense - Amare plays none.

And KG has plenty left in the tank imo.

I said it in the other thread I agree completely Spread...

Amare plays none? I would disagree... The Suns did fine shutting down Duncan in the Conference Finals... They haven't struggled to shut down the post... there problem was one of their stars god suspended in a pivotal game...

Trade makes ZERO sense... 7 year difference... Amare is a budding star while Garnett is a tailing star...

Garnett can not run the floor with the Suns... why switch systems when yours was clearly working

you guys act like Steve Nash will be running the team 5-6 years down the road and once he's done running the show the window for the Suns to win it all closes a little bit

It wouldnt really be fair to Amare in a lot of ways. Then again he makes a lot of money so who cares. "It's a business" I think is what the players always say.

But I'm sure many of you would love to see KG on a contender again.

K.G. is a stud and will continue to be one for the next few years, especially teamed up with Nash and company....Garnett CAN and WILL run with the Suns if given the opportunity....

Joe Johnson spoke to Amare and it was reported that he would welcome the trade...

According to Yahoo, Joe Johnson of the Hawks (former Sun) has talked to Amare about the deal, and he said he welcomes the change.

Amare's nickname is "stat", so I wouldn't doubt at all he would like to get out of Nash's shadow and be "the man" on a different team.

Are you kidding? The Suns were terrified of letting Amare guard Duncan one on one. That's why Kurt Thomas got so many minutes that series, he can actually play some defense.

I think the main question should be, Will this make the Suns a better team, both next season and for the future? I dont know how anyone can say yes, this surely makes the Suns better next season. Also, there is no way you can say it is in the best interest for the future. Not with KG being several years older than Amare.

Wow

Some of you actually believe Amare is as good as Kevin Garnett?

Guess you don't consider defense when evaluating players..

Don't get me wrong, I dont think Amare is as good as KG. But you have to look at the whole picture, in terms of how he fits in the system, as well as the upside that Amare still has.

So they shouldn't be able to build around Amare once Nash is gone... they should just fall off the face of the earth once Nash and KG retire?

I can see why Phoenix would do this. I understand Amare played in every game this year, but he missed the year before with a major knee problem. Who knows if he'll go down again. Once you have a knee injury, you always have it to some degree.

Also, you can change your style a little bit. I think they'd be a little tighter. Not saying you're a half court team, but it gives you a little more presence in the middle on defense.

I wonder if Suns games will still go over 225+ consisently with KG in there.. what you guys think?

I can't believe you don't think this makes the Suns better immediately. KG can do everything Amare does, can pass better, and plays tons better D. I promise the Spurs and Mavs hate this trade if it happens.
