Something I refuse to do because I think you look like a kid- text message w/cell

Couple co-worker buddies in their 30's are dealing with these girls in their mid 20's and they get texted all day long by them. It drives me insane.

I ask these guys why these girls don't just call them. Now I can see why maybe they text once in a great while for a corny liitle I luv u but this goes on all day and are complete conversations.

Like to think I am still pretty young at heart but this one stumps me. Much like the whole two way radio thing back in the day, I think this makes someone look cheap and like a teenager.

My thoughts are if you have a cell phone than use it and CALL someone.

You guys agree, is this chessy for 30 somethings to be texting each other all day ?

I prefer texting. Sometimes you want to say something to someone, but you don't want to go through the formality of "hey, what's up.....ok talk to ya later...bye"

With a text you don't have to bother them or yourself and they can respond at their own leisure

One of my roommates is so damn annoying with this. He'll send 100 texts a day, and when hes not texting hes talking to someone. I bet he literally spends 10 hours a day using his cell phone.

He does the whole text conversation thing, drives me fucking insane and has the gayest ringtone for it. I'll probably kill him pretty soon.

If theres a girl I'm talking with I might send one text a day, thats really the only thing I'll use it for. Other than that I'll probably only send a couple a month to old friends with stuff like "how 'bout those panthers" or whatever sporting event was recent

I used to think that way but it is often easier to just text something like "Softball game is at 6" instead of calling someone. Plus, a lot of the time, I don't really want to talk to the person but have to tell them something, this allows for that.

It is kind of juvenile, but it is also convenient.

I agree to the extent of you dont realy want to deal with that someone but have to talk to them. My problem also is when I get a text that involves an answer now I am back to square one and have to call them but not sure if they want me too. I understand there is somewhat a time and place for a text, but all day?

But like I said the worse is the back and forth texting. When did this become normal, espically with girls and guys. Too me it looks sort of teenagreish for 30 year olds to hold a conversation this way. When I see teenagers all into this I know something is not right to me. Maybe I am getting old (LOL).

Grow up old man, it's a great way to communicate with out the long drawn out conversations that women will suck you into. Texting takes 3 secs tops.

Ice, the more you do, the more you will do it. Trust me, I would constantly badger my wife about it, annoyed the hell out of me that she would have conversations with her friends but now I text more than she does.

I guess this is what I don't understand. You give 5 minutes on the phone talking to a girl and I knew they liked me beforehand and bam it was all over. I loved phone conversations back in the day when I was trying to hook up.

Right there 4 options with out being committed to one, on the phone I find I get trapped by one of them, then if I flake and do something else I'm a jackass for not meeting them.

You said you are/were in sales. Me also (sort of) and the phone is by far by strength.

Like I said I could close on the phone 90% of the time. It also played to my favor as it gave me a chance to make some decsions about them when I talked to them beforehand.

I like text messages also, 90% of my plans are organized by them. I only call people when I want to have a conversation (am bored, or some other reason).

What I absolutely cannot stand are people who use "txt spk" in emails or forums, I can understand it by phone due to the keypads, though most people I talk to regularly have stopped even that now, but there is zero excuse for it in emails or internet, and reflects poorly on the persons intellect imo.
