Arizona +1.20 over SAN FRANCISCO
This one’s really a no-brainer, as the Giants have no business whatsoever being a –1.20 favorite in this spot. For one, Matt Morris is certainly no more reliable then Livan Hernandez and in fact, Hernandez was pitching very efficiently before he faced the Yanks, Tampa and Baltimore in his last three starts. Prior to facing that trio of AL teams his ERA was 3.66 and he had pitched well into the seventh inning in five of seven starts. Furthermore, the D-Backs are 10 games over .500 while the Giants are 11 games under .500. Offensively, the Snakes are simply the superior squad and on the hill the Giants do not have an edge either. Game should be a pick’em and therefore we’ll play the value. Play: Arizona +1.20 (Risking 2 units).

Atlanta –1½ +1.40 over FLORIDA
The Braves have shaken off their offensive woes and now seem ready once again to make a move. In fact, the Braves scored 23 runs over their last three games and that should carry over here against Josh Johnson. Johnson hasn’t been close since coming off surgery and making two starts. He didn’t make it out of the fourth inning in either start and that has a way of playing on one’s mind, especially someone so young. In 6.2 innings Johnson has been torched to the tune of 17 hits, 15 runs, one bomb and he’s walked seven. Ouch. Johnson may snap out of it and he may snap out of it here. However, as mentioned above he hasn’t been close and it has to be playing on his fragile mind. Until he shows us something different we’ll play against him and we make no exception here. Besides, it’s not like the Marlins are playing good because they’re not, having lost 11 of their past 15 home games. Play Atlanta –1½ +1.40 (Risking 2 units).

Toronto +1.27 over SEATTLE
The Mariners favored by this much is simply incorrect, as this is a bad line, period. Dustin McGowan has some of the filthiest stuff in the business and he’s only getting better. He took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Rockies in his last start and has now pitcher seven full innings or more in four of his last six. In June, the league is hitting just .228 off him and the Mariners are completely unfamiliar with him. By contrast, the Jays are extremely familiar with Jarrod Washburn, as they’ve seen him numerous times over the years. In fact, Washburn is 1-6 in his career vs the Blue Jays and things don’t figure to get better here. Wrong side favored. Play: Toronto +1.27 (Risking 2 units).

Please note: Yestersday's Baltimore/New York game is graded as a win for betting purposes only. When a game is cancelled in the middle of an inning the books revert back to the last complete inning and in this case that would be the seventh inning in which the O's had a 6-4 lead. If you wagered on Baltimore yesterday your bet should be graded as a win, as ours was (Pinny). If it wasn't, you need to read the rules of your sportsbook.
