I guess this means Tony LaRussa won't have to decide whether or not Bar-oid will make the squad.

It would have been hard to imagine Bonds being kept off this squad.

The Giants star overcame a 119,000-vote deficit in the final days of balloting and finished 123,000 ahead of the Chicago Cubs' Alfonso Soriano on Sunday to claim the third and final starting outfield spot for the National League.

"I'm at a loss for words right now," Bonds said. "It just means more 'cause I'm at home. This is my town. This is my house. You can't say enough about being at home. It's great."

its odd that while the media hates him the fans want him playing. i sometimes think the presses opinion gets brainwashed into the fans mindset so they become a clone and believe everything thats published by the press. how many people would really give a shit about people taking steroids if we weren't constantly beat in with the fact that steroids are horrible by the press. now bonds might not be the most likeable guy, i haven't met him so I can't determine that but I think this steroid, asterisk push by the press is pointless pretty much.

how did he overcome that vote margin in 1 day? Did the whole city vote 10 times?

Just Wondering If Baseball Fixed This So They Wouldn't Have To Deal With Him Not Making The Team. Just A Thought.

It's deserved.

Would have been really odd if he didnt start, considering the contest is being played in SF.

Well deserved for the greatest player to ever live.

He is definitely the most feared hitter to ever live. Just look at the walks he's been given in his career for proof. He belongs in the hall of fame without hesitation. If Rose and Bonds aren't allowed in the Hall of Fame, screw the Hall of Fame. I could care less. Wouldn't stop there even if I was driving right past it.

If Bonds get left out of the Hall then IMO there is no HOF. Any idiot who argues that steriods should keep him out hasn't watched a lick of baseball in his life.

Amen brother, Amen. Greatest player of the modern era. Screw that crybaby Hank Aaron. Like ole Henry didnt take amps back in his day to keep him going. Of all people who should know what Bonds is going through it should be that old crouch Aaron.

The AS balloting is a joke. Cubs were home the whole week and averaged 40,000 for the last 9 games (3 at White Sox). I think this was fixed by the league.

His .516 OBP does not necessarily make him great this year. It tells me the cleanup hitters in the Giants lineup suck.

there has been a big push by the giants organization to get the fans voting here recently. radio and tv kept emphasizing this. im not sure if thats how he got in but in any case it is deserved.
