Cleveland travels to Detroit today to open a 3 game set with the Tigers. Motivation angle really isnt there during MLB since it's a 162 game season, but one would have to think that Detroit should be extremely motviated for this one. Detroit is 2 games back of Cleveland now, and they got swept AT COMERICA last time by the Tribe this year.

Game 1 of this series, Byrd is nothing stellar on the road, and showed signs of missing location in his last start. He is around the plate and relies on his defense to make plays as he throws strikes and doesn't walk many. I dont think that bodes well for him as these Tiger hitters should be able to feast on pitches that they know will be over the plate.

Game 1 (today): Byrd vs. Robertson
Game 2 (Wed.): Westbrook vs. Rogers
Game 3 (Thurs): Sabathia vs. Verlander

All Thoughts and opinions welcome and wanted...

Paul Byrd (7-3, 4.67 ERA) looks to win his third straight road decision for Cleveland. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 3.87 ERA in his last three road starts, and has allowed three runs or fewer in four of his past five outings away from Jacobs Field.

betting detroit at -120 for the series is a fancy way of saying youre betting verlander -120 over sabathia on thursday. one way or another, these two teams are going to split tonight and tomorrow. then the bet will be decided between the aces at a relative pick 'em.

I like this play a lot. Detroit can win the first two...I HIGHLY doubt Cleveland will and I like Detroit game 3. Good luck if you play it. I like it.

You really think that they will split these 2 between today and tomorrow?

I can see them trying to avoid the sweep with C.C. on Thursday.

id say cleveland has a better shot of winning the first two than detroit does. jmo though. still think the next two days result in some sort of split. and then the series winner is decided by verlander/sabathia.

1. cle is 2-0 in sabathia vs. verlander this year
2. cle is 5-2 vs. detroit this year
3. cle is 3-0 in det
4. cle avg 6.28 runs behind cc, det 5.25 for verlander

..do you want me to keep going. i realize that these are just stats and there are some intangibles like divison lead going here, but what else could i judge on?

What a joke...

Now im stuck with a Detroit series ticket. And like Prodigy said, essentially paid -120 for Verlander at best.

Is there anyway i can get off this one tomorrow? Or do i need to wait until CC vs Verlander?
