#1 Here's a player who played on some of the best teams of his era, he retired after recording a .300 batting average in his final year at just age 35...in his prime he probably was the fastest player in MLB from home to 3rd base.

I finished 3rd in the MVP one year, 590 plate appearances, walked only 13, batted .317 but my OBP was only .327, stole 43 bases was caught just 7 times.

The year in question Rivers only hit 312 from what I see so cant be him...

he retired at just 35, while batting .300, it seemed he would have still had something left, I don't recall a serious injury....rememeber how slow he looked walking around to the plate, he looked like a 70 year old man, then he was off like greased lightning at the crack of the bat.
