Milwaukee –1½ +1.16 over PITTSBURGH (4:00 PM)
The Brewers have been torching two things this season; the Pirates and left-handers. This afternoon they’ll see both. In fact, the Brewers are 18-10 against southpaws and at this moment they’re swinging some very hot sticks. The Brewers hung a 10-spot last night on the Buccos and have now scored 71 times over its last 10 games. The Pirates were forced to call up Shane Youman from their Triple-A affiliate, the Indianapolis Indians. At Indy, Youman went 4-6 with a 4.70 ERA. The minor-leaguers hit .290 off him and two starts ago against Pawtucket he allowed eight runs in four innings of work. Youman has had some major league experience; in fact, 21.2 innings worth and wasn’t bad at all. However, he did walk a bunch of hitters once he got to this level and he does have a propensity for fighting the strike zone. Chris Capuano comes off the DL for the Brewers and he says he’s never felt better. Said Capuano, "My stuff, if anything, feels better because my body feels better than it has all season. When your body feels good as a pitcher, you have a little bit more sharpness on your pitches, usually." On May 7, Capuano had a 2.31 ERA and was as good as any starter in the NL and then the soreness in his groin had begun to worsen. He still made six more starts before landing on the DL but we expect him to be his usual reliable self here. The Brew Crew has won 14 of their past 18 games and this might be their easiest assignment yet. Play: Milwaukee –1½ +1.18 (Risking 2 units).

Baltimore +1.22 over CHICAGO
We’ve maintained all year that when Daniel Cabrera is on his game he’s among the toughest pitchers to hit in the game and he’s absolutely amongst the most talented. We’re not even going to go into his numbers because they’re not relevant. What is relevant is that Cabrera has filthy stuff and the White Sox, despite winning a few games recently, are still seeing BB’s and still rank at or near the bottom in every major offensive category. What’s also relevant is that the Orioles are winning games these days and perhaps the most relevant thing about all of this is the take-back. Chicago is a bad, not check that, a horribly bad favorite. Play Baltimore: +1.22 (Risking 2 units).

Seattle +1.01 over KANSAS CITY
Despite losing last night the Mariners remain one of the hottest teams in the league and their offense takes a back seat to nobody. What’s even more remarkable about their offensive numbers is that they play half their games at Safeco, one of the top three pitcher parks in the majors. Then we have a lefty-lefty match-up, which heavily favors the visitor here. In fact, Seattle is 15-6 vs southpaws while the Royals are a 6-16. Furthermore, Jorge De La Rosa is among the most hittable pitchers in the game. He’s allowed 116 hits in 93 innings and things are about to get a whole lot tougher here. Ryan Feierabend has some work to do for sure, however, he was very sharp in his last start against the Red Sox in which he went five full innings and didn’t allow a single run. The Royals favored here is just plain stupid. Jump on this one early. Play Seattle +1.01 (Risking 2 units).
