Went to Maui for the first time in April and thought it was paradise.

I live in SoCal and usually can't wait to get home when I go anywhere else. Maui is the only place where I would have rather stayed than come home.

We will try Kauia next year to compare.

Saint John, a short boat ride from St. Thomas. Plenty expensive and worth every penny.

Ocho Rios, without a doubt.

beautiful place for sure but I couldn't stand getting hit up for dope, braids, jet skis, parasailing, etc. every step I took on the street

being confined to a resort gets old after a while

i'll tell you the place i am talking about rents for 5 grand a week for use of 4 villas and 6500 for use of all 5 villas.

food expense is roughly 275 per person for the week . ( which is actually a steal for what you eat. )

still interested ??

Been to Maui twice....real peaceful and the golf is outstanding...been to Thailand, maybe will retire there after everything is said and done...but my next dream vacation will probably be to Ireland where my father was born...never been to Europe so I will likely travel a bit...maybe JoeyFitz can give me some good advise..

Went to Maui for the first time in April and thought it was paradise....We will try Kauia next year to compare.

My first visit to Hawaii (Maui) was pretty memorable. We had a 10 day inter-island pass on Hawaiian and so went to the big island, Hawaii, twice Kauai twice and to Honolulu for a short visit and flight back. Only time I've ever had two cars rented on the same day!

I believe Kauai has even more natural beauty than Maui, but its very quiet and secluded. I remarked in another thread that everywhere has issues and even in Maui I'd probably get tired of the perfect weather day after day.

I've also very much enjoyed Tahiti as well as a Greek Isles cruise with visits to Pompeii, Rhodes and other ancient attractions. I think I enjoy both natural places and historic places with great monuments. Examples are the great National Parks of Utah for natural beauty and Venice for monuments.

Its hard to find a best, but Maui is certainly up there. Going for my third Maui visit for two weeks in November.

Best vacations for me are sightseeing ones, roman remains in Italy, assorted remains in Cyprus, Ancient Greek stuff in Greece etc..
