With all this talk about roids and HGH as performance enhancers I was wondering something.

If someone took lets say Zanax to calm down because they get to up or excited for a big game wouldnt that be considered performance enhancement?

no...

What is Xanax?
Xanax is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peens). Xanax affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.

Xanax is used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety caused by depression.

It does not enhance performance

Believe it or not, lots of football players take Cialis before games. Besides the obvious use of Cialis, it gets you "up" in more ways than one.

Max did you not read what I wrote.

Lets just go by your defenition. It is used to treat anxiety. If a pitcher is having anxiety and it helps him get through the game that isnt "performance enhancing"

How would he have pitched not on the drug? I would assume alot worse.

Good question. I would say yes, but I doubt the media or public would care enough to make it a big story. Not as sexy as steroids.

Golfers use Xanax and Vallum alllllll the time,,, this is a known fact in the PGA,,, lol but just as you dont really hear of any of those cats getting busted for roids, or Meds,, they wont make an issue of it,,

I dont know if any baseball players would use it though??? Maybe like a Knuckleballer Tim Wake,,, he might,,, only because his pitch is more about concentration and NOT power,, of which both of the above listed MEDS may hinder any HARD pitching,,

Performance-enhancing drugs affect the body in different ways, such as enlarging muscles or increasing the blood’s oxygen-carrying capacity. Despite these apparent benefits, the use of such drugs is considered both competitively unethical and medically dangerous. Most performance-enhancing drugs are outlawed by organizations that govern major amateur and professional sports.

I would still say that xanax is not a performance enhancing drug....JMO

The reason I say no is because it does not help the pitcher throw faster or harder or give him endurance....so to me its a no on xanax. God help the batter that has to face a pitcher juiced on xanax...the pitcher would be so loose that he wouldnt care if he threw strickes or ball or even hit the batter because everything in xanax land is mmeeellloowwww....

i agree that it is a no go on the xanax. One time I was playing in a huge dart tourney in charlotte, made it to the top 8, and found myself nervous as fuck. I took a xanax and my darts would almost not make it to the board.
