This one will be real tough IMO.

He just missed out on what use to be the automatic election (500HR club) finishing with 493 HR ! How do you get that close and not make it? damn.

The other vitals, 2,490 hits, 1,550 RBI, 441 2B ( a little low), solid avg and OBP .284 / .377 ...1,882 K's which is really high but wouldn't keep him out.. He did win a WS with ATL and was solid in a handful of post season appearances, no gold gloves, never really came close to a league MVP, but was very very consistent....

This one is real close boys....too close to call for me at this time.

Even Harold Baines ranks favorably over McGriff, or is at the very least statistically right there...376 more hits, 78 more RBI, slightly higher BA. less HR but Baines has zero shot...

I think McGriff could be a victim of his peers and will be cast aside, narrowly missing it...and he probably should sneak in.

Yes. He has the best instructional video of anyone. Plus the most annoying commercial for it.

What is your opinion? :suomi:

I don't think Griffey, Belle, Thomas, Ramirez or McGriff used and I would put the other 4 ahead of McGriff. If you are asking for my opinion on McGriff, I don't think he will get in. For me personally, he is on the fence. However, until Jim Rice gets in, he shouldn't.

He was very consistent, clutch, under rated defensively, good all around numbers without any particular season that really stood out. Ultimately he will have a lot of competition at 1B against guys that he probably loses to (Del Gado, Thome, Bagwell, Palmeiro (although he screwed himself), Thomas) and I'm not so sure how many of those guys are HOF. Ultimately I don't think he will get in b/c his numbers will pale in comparison to his peers but I think he was really damn good.

NO.................... JIM RICE DOMINATED MORE THAN HE DID as well as Dale Murphy. I'd put Fred slightly ahead of Bagwell though.

It's all good CAPN. You fight the good fight, and that is all that matters.

Sheffield has a pretty big Limo service in the Tampa area. 'Sheffields limos' or something like that.

I guess Florida brings out the entrepreneur in everyone (thats when McGriff made the video if I am not mistaken)

Shef was one of my favorite Yanks. I just like the way he muscles that bat. It's impressive. He has that nasty 'me me' attitude, but so dont most of the Yanks.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope everything is good for you in return.
