Been playing $1-2. Full size (between 7-9 players at all times, mostly 9) cash games.

After 7,000 hands

7% hands won
56% showdowns won
18% flops seen
35% win pct if flops seen

Going to buy some poker software soon but this is from the site.
Started with $200 and got as high as upper $900's twice but currently around $620.

Been using a short stack strategy. Not sure if I will continue that.

For the 1st month I will take it. Going to tweak a few things. Of the above stats what should be my goal %wise.

Is there any software out there that can break this down a little more in depth for me? What other stats should I be looking at? Thanks

It has been a true grind but I will say that I have enojyed it. Playing way too much like a robot though and would like to eventually add some more decisons into my game (just not sure I am good enough) instead of what I am currently doing.

Hey ice, are you playing 1-2 limit or NL? I should know this stuff, but I dont. I focus on the bottom line, winning or losing.

Also, are you getting any type of rake back? What sites do you currently play?

Ice, sorry to invade on the thread with a somewhat off topic question but i didn't want to make a whole new thread for you. Here goes....

On The Big Idea segment the other night, do you remember how Moneymaker said to calculate the hand odds or whatever it was? I was trying to recall what exactly it was and remember it being something like take how many outs you have left and multiply it by 4 after the flop, and then 2 before the river....Thanks in advance.

Get pokertracker and the HUD. They are essential.

I don't know much about bodog but if you are looking for another site I love pokerstars just for the points system. I don't know what kind of points 7,000 hands gets you at 1/2 nl, but it is probably gets you a couple of tshirts and a sweatshirt. If you play enough you can get real rewards like TVs, gift certificates, etc. So, if you are a break even player you still get to earn stuff, which is nice.

7,000 hands isn't much of a grind. that is 1 to 2 days of play for me. How many hands are you playing at a time?

At 1/2 nl, you don't need to mix up your play much. The players suck and good solid robotic play will get the money.

Good luck.

i am pretty sure that is what he said, 4 before and multiply 2 by the number of outs before the river. been tryin to use that a little myself.

Thanks a lot.
Is pokerstars the #1 US site for poker players?
Looking into pokertracker but what is hud?

Playing anywhere from 1 to 3 tables at a time. Actually table minutes a day is around 200 on average. I am also doing other things so it has been hit and miss for me, sometimes as much as 600 minutes a day and other 45 minutes.

Ice, if you are not getting some sort of rakeback then you are throwing away money. I currently get 27% at FTP, in 3 weeks now ive brought in almost 200 bucks that ive got back from the rake.

I agree with Utah, their is no reason to go crazy trying to mix up your play, the players at this level will generally pay you off (especially at bodog ive noticed.

Shoot me an email if you want to get in on the rakeback, if you sign up through me I get an extra 1% so then id get 28% back!

I fell in love with the 100 percent rakeback at wsex, but their room was just way too slow for me and not enough options, so I ditched it and went to FTP. Of course the 100 percent bonus at FTP is nice as well

will look into it this weekend and if so will get ahold of you.

Was attratced more to Bodog because of what I thought would be worse players there but not sure that is true.

Seems like a site like FTP would be loaded with solid players.

The multi table tourneys have worse players than stars for instance. Would assume the same holds true for small cash games, but not sure.

I sure as heck haven't ran into any solid players, especially in the low level games, I have been multi tabling .25/.50 50max/ .5/1 100max NL games and have been doing alright, check out my journal in the poker forum

Sorry, I was just messing around to bust your balls. Meant to check back in a half hour and say that but I forgot about the thread.

No problem. I usually get pretty defensive when someone rips me on here (which I am working on) but I know I am not good at poker so I wanted you to point out what you thought I was so bad at.

Trying to develop who I am (I think that is important to winning poker is have a philsosohy) and hoping to figure some things out by looking in the numbers. Was hoping someone can tell me something from these stats as I am not sure what to shoot for with them.

I actually have been reading and been meaning to post in the thread. Keep it up, it is very intersting.

I get 25% at bodog and 27% rakeback at FTP

....but if you find the right people, i hear you can get like 30% at FTP (Not sure who, cause 27 is the max at my site).....i would take the time to search and find the extra 3%, if I weren't already locked in, i'd look too.

PA Hud is a tremendous tool that will keep track of the stats of people on your table....wouldnt' it be nice if you see seat 3 raise and you notice he is extremely tight....that makes your fold an easy decision. PA Hud works w/ PStars, not sure about Bodog.

$200 on a 1/2 NL is really bad bankroll management (I'm sure you are very familiar with bankroll management and most likely $200 is simply your deposit, not your bankroll and I will end this thought at that)

I dont recommend buying in short....you are leaving too much money on the table...especially at 1/2 nl, some ppl will make idiotic plays and you want to capitalize on their whole stack when they do!

Could you explain rakeback a little more thorughly. Like I said I haven't played very much and still learning. Obvioulsy it has something to do with giving you back some money, like rebates with horses. So if I played 7,000 hands at the $1-2 level than what would I be expecting?

The bankroll thing is a long story but it was more or less a start with how to play a short stack strategy, this strategy is condusive to someone just starting and gives you your best chance to win by going all in early in the hand when you have the nuts or close to it. Unless you are one of the best players at your table than you should not have a big stack or play alot of flops and I am not close to being the best player at the table.
