been following this all year...
i track the number of games that are decided by exactly one run every day of the week. the running average for the season is 26.74% of the games end this way. i then split the percentages down into 4 daily categories:
under 20%
20% - 25%
26% - 39%
40% and over
every day of the week has been very consistent with the number of games over and below the 26.74% average except for saturdays.
on saturdays:
under 20% - 5
20% - 25% - 6
26% - 39% - 0
above 40% - 2
both of the saturdays that fell over 40% were interleague play.
long story short, if i take a favorite on saturday i'm going runline. it's been working pretty well for me, hope the info is useful to some. i'm also trying to break this down on a team by team basis as well.
