I know a lot of people consider these sucker bets.

So which one is more of a sucker bet?

Multiple choice is accepted with this thread.

Both are highly inadvisable and bookie's love parlay/teaser players.

Trust me on this.

There was a lenghty post several months ago showing that, if bet in the right size, parlays save way more money over straight bets, and, in the case of three team parlays, win more money on average while doing so. My impression of teasers is that they're sucker bets, except in the NFL-the books didn't sharply reduce NFL teaser odds because they were bored...

I love these threads but I say you guys that say parlays (and to a lesser degree teasers) are for suckers are idiots. Last time I was in Vegas, the day after the BCS championship game my friends and I each did the same 4 team parlay at the NY NY. The clerk laughed at us and gladly took our money. At 9 PM that night we cashed our winning tickets and got the clerk to flip us some more free drink coupons.

Books love parlay players but there are players that win betting parlays.

I believe that a 2 event parlay offers a great value, providing that you have done some intense DD.

I pick my spots and have done very well over the last several years. Patience is the key here.

If you're making money betting one or both, why is it a sucker bet?

I don't care if you bet strictly 12-team parlays...if you're in the black at the end of the day, who cares if someone else thinks it's a sucker bet? Fuck 'em. Money is money.

for a handicapper who picks more than 52.5% winners, parlays give them a higher rate of return

for a losing handicapper, you are just going to lose your money faster

also if you really like a game but your book has a max bet on it, you can bet it and then also include it in a parlay to get more money down on it

I personally enjoy playing teasers in football. And like Skins says at the end of the day you are up who cares what others think...

agreed...not neccessarily for suckers like I posted above.

really depends on the sport. the sharper the lines (NFL,NBA) the harder the parlay, but on the flip side sharp lines are good for teasers. really pays to shop teaser odds......if you are a parlay bettor you need to be using ABC Sports....owned by Jazz.....oldschool bookmakers with the $$ the boot...

have an aquaintence who bets 8-10 team CFB parlays....for a dime...2 each a week. Always hits one a year. 2004 hit 2....pays $100K so he makes money in the long run.....VAST majority lose $$$. Never bet pars myself

In the big picture, teasers by far. Sucks all the losers in, even more so than usual.
