What does history usually tell us when a pitcher faces one of his former teams? In this case I am referring to Greg Maddux vs the braves. Who has the edge? The pitcher who knows these bats or the bats who knows these pitches? I would think it would be the bats because for the several years maddux was a brave they got to see all his pitches and tendencies. Either during a game, practice, warm ups and they have the pitching coaches who worked with this guy. Is this a legit theory?

I'm a braves fan and I think it has nothing to do with anything. The only braves that were there when maddux was there was Chipper and Andruw. He has never played with the young guys, and Renteria was never there with him. Your theory makes no sense. Even if Maddux gives up 11 runs in the first inning I still think it makes no sense. I think they Padres win 6-4

Yeah, I'd say both pitchers get touched up a bit.
Both bullpens are good though, so still debating that over.
