Last Year I had Ryan Howard to win it all and cashed nicely on that one.
This year, I think Howard is good to try and do it again. But I'll make an official play here on another guy that should put on a show:
4* Prince Fielder -125 over Justin Morneau.
Fielder, like Howard was, is an up and coming power hitter that can hit some towering monstrous shots. While its true that no player in the homerun derby has more raw power than Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder is the one who will use this stage tonight to officially put himself on the map and make a big name for himself on National TV - like Howard did last year. I like the fact that Howard wants to defend his crown, and he enjoyed his time last year, and will take this seriously again this year, but not much value in Howard tonight - but I cant bet against him. Instead give me Fielder here in a one on one matchup.
It's just been that kind of year for the Brewers. Fieder takes big hacks, even in in-game at bats, and the fact that he will be swinging for the fences tonight will be nothing new for him. A lot of players come out of their comfort zones and overswing in the omerun derby, Fielder always over swings and never gets cheated at the dish.
Howard has so much raw power, and once he gets in the zone, he should put on another great show, but give me Fielder over Morneau easily here.
