AT&T Park really plays to right handed hitters, unless they're hit down the line, which is a shame because three of my four favorite to win the contest are left handed. That said two of the left handers are big pop power guys, who can really crank them out.

Left Handed
Prince Fielder
Ryan Howard
Justin Morneau

Right Handed
Vlad Guerrero
Alex Rios
Alber Pujols
Magglio Ordonez
Matt Holiday

Notes
- Bit concerned that Prince had to settle for his third choice in who's pitching to him, but his former Single A coach (still currently in the system) took two days off to "serve up steak" to Prince. Although it's Prince's first time in the Derby, he got to experience this event many times on the field with his father Cecil.

- Similar in build to Prince, Ryan Howard should not be effected too much by the deeper left field as they both hit bombs. He proved last season that he could win it, and I expect him to show he belongs in the All Star game.
- Worried about Justin Morneau having Gardenhire as the person tossing to him. Heard all morning that Gardenhire can't throw a ball that doesn't curve on ESPN. Add in the fact he's a lefty and I don't think he does well. More of a line drive hitter and I think the field will really effect him.

- Vlad Guerrero wants to put on a show for the 3 million people who voted him into the All Star game. He participated in the event in 2000 and was bounced in the first round. He'll have his normal batting practice coach pitching to him. My dark horse to win.

- "I'm more nervous than excited, but I'm going to enjoy it," said Alex Rios. More of a line drive/gap hitter. Expect him to be eliminated in the first round.

- The TV talking heads are predicting Pujols. I think he just shows up and goes through the motions. The downtown San Francisco ballpark has been one of Pujols' worst throughout his career. He's a lifetime .253 hitter at AT&T Park with two home runs. Additionally, Pujols finds himself in the longest stretch without a home run he's ever endured.

- Magglio Ordonez is in such a hitting groove right now I'm afraid he'll be taking the balls to the gaps. With that said he'll have an easier job hitting it into the right field power alley than some of these other guys. See him as 4th or 5th after the first round.

- Don't have much to say about Holliday. He really is the most over looked star in baseball.

I'm mad at myself right now. Wanted to limit myself to this event to under $1,000 and I left out my two favorite wagers and another one that is losing value as the line drops. Doh. Anyways, that limit i had set in my mind is out the window.

$100 Prince -140 over Morneau
$100 Howard -145 over Morneau
$50 Vlad +110 over Morneau (I know I have a pretty bad line on it)

The 309 down the line to right will really help get some cheapies. My concern is that some of these guys will be afraid of hitting it to the 420 right center field power alley and with have a tendency to get a few outs on long foul balls trying to hug that line. The right handed hitters have the advantage in my opinion because they can keep their normal swing and not have to worry as much about hugging the line. I think it's in the 360's to the left field power alley? I don't think that the huge distance will effect two of the lefties (prince and fielder), but will have a big effect on Morneau as I see him hitting a lot of power alley shots.

Dimensions: Left field: 339 feet; left-center: 364 feet; center field: 399 feet; right-center: 421 feet; right field:309 feet

Fences: Left field: 8 feet; center field: 8 feet with 19-foot span that reaches 11 feet high at its peak in left-center; right field: 25 feet.

are you bored?

I'm having the shakes from not having anything to wager on. Last night I was almost talked into getting on some NRL Monday night action in the twilight hours. Glad I stayed off it though as I'd have lost on the Eels. Otherwise I figured a couple guys started posting at my place from here I could return the favor. Not too often I get a chance to do write ups these days.

Can only have so many chances before you don't get them anymore. One too many racist rants from you. Sorry about our decision not to allow you back, but we felt it was best.

I think you have your sites messed up. That's more of a P-box thing. I'm glad I have a group now though. Me and my Semcon Homies.
