Why the F@CK do you take C Young out after only 6 innings and 96 pitches?

Cost them the game.

Then they leave freakin Bell in after about 7 consecutive singles. By the time Meredith gets in...its too late. F@cking joke!

What happened to Meredith in the 7th, Linebrink in the 8th and Hoffman in the 9th?

He was dialed in, but the Padres bullpen is more than capable of closing the door. Just didn't have it tonight.

Yah I know hes practically at the usual 100 pitch count with a 3run lead for the best bullpen in baseball. And then he has the nerve to hand the game over to arguably their best reliever this year Heath Bell with a 1.78 ERA. seriously what was he thinking/sarcasm

One of these days I will actaully heed my own advice and stop betting on this team. I think I have lost my last 3 bets on this team (twice with Young on the mound and once with Peavy ~ but through no fault of the starting pitchers).

Padres are a big fat FADE right now as much as it pains me to say it. I can see LA running away with this division.

Its not the point about the pen. The point is he should not have pulled Young so early. Bell is a good manager and they have a good pen. Bottom line was Young was throwing seeds tonight. He shouldve left him in period....end of conversation. 6 innings 2 hits, 1 run.......he was locked in. If he pitched 6 innnings and gave up 10 hits and 1 run, that would be different. The only knock was Clarks dinger. No need to go to the pen when you didnt have to. They f'd my bet, but Im glad they lost with that stupid ass managerial move.

Under normal circumstances if the SD pen blows this game it is no biggie b/c theyve been awesome all year. There was just no need for them to be in tonight which is probably why they blew it. They were probably shocked as hell to that Black went to them.

What kills me even more was that they didn't pinch hit for him in a needed spot. 1 out nobody on....just let the Giant Derek Lee killer hit, and wait until you can get to your for sure bullpen.

The pitch count is all they look at anymore = I can only guess they do that to keep from 'over-working? a pitchers arm. Sometimes that 'fresh' arm they put in to replace him, ain't worth a shit.

Like fresh celery. If you hate celery like I do, then fresh or not, it sux.

In the OLD days, the way you avoided that 'trip to the mound' by mr manager was to throw strikes and set 'em down with a low pitch count. Nolan Ryan usually pitched full games, cause he threw flames and knew those guys couldn't hit it. low pitch count.

That's my only guess = trying to use 'REASON' and stuff won't get you a good answer, I'm afraid.

I'm just givin you some free advice. So many people in this country make excuses whenever anything goes wrong, this is along the same lines.

The guy pitched a great game, was near the 100 pitch count, and had a 3 run lead. Why not give the game over to a decent bullpen?

Because the guy is 6 feet 80 and is a bull- he could of gone at least 1 more inning!

100 pitch count?? You think Gibson,Seaver,Ryan,Carlton, know of this 100 pitch count?

GB-- They could not sniff him. They had 2 hits off him!!!!! He didnt even hit 100 pitches. Could have easily trotted him out there for at least 1 more inning and maybe even 2 before giving way to Hoffman. If he got into trouble in the 7th by allowing 2 or more guys to reach, then ok, but he was never in any real trouble and was throwing a gem.

Black even admitted after game he was worried about that stupid pitch count b/c Young through 1 inning in the all-star game. Just a bad decision on Blacks part.
