I read in a post that golden palace stiffed someone on here..I thought they were a huge outfit? Am I incorrect...I even saw their name on a boxers shorts....
I believe that post was mine. Back in like 2000 Golden Palace decided to clean house on advantaged gamblers. For a long time they offered 20% bonuses on unlimited deposits with very limited wagering requirements. Once they realized that people like me were taking them up on this offer over and over again they decided to lock our accounts and confiscate our balances. They made the first major claim of bonus abuse that others would soon follow. They claimed that although it was within the terms and conditions to cash out and redeposit, this was not in the "spirit of the promotion" and the "spirit of gambling". This opened up a whole can of worms that was never completely straightened out. Many players lost 10's of thousands because they wanted to retroactively confiscate bonus money meaning entire deposits were stolen.
There was a group called the OPA (Online Players Association) that went to bat for the players. I was a board member of the OPA at the time. We were successful in retrieving some, but not all of the confiscated money. I got most of mine out, but a large chunk disappeared from their records. We had to negotiate deals and extra wagering requirements to get everyone's money out. For the most part we were successful, but Golden Palace was rogued by many websites for their part in the fiasco.
The OPA was later sold to a couple of portal owners and the founder, Steve Axxxxxx, was arrested for embezzling 3 million from the Ohio Food bank and sentenced to 10 years in prison unbeknowst to the other OPA committee members. That was the end of the OPA as we knew it.
