If I get the wall mounting kit and everything, is it fairly easy to setup or Should I just get someone to come out and do it.

Do any places offer free instalation with buying a wall mount?

Also, what would be a better hanging tv...Plasma or LCD. Note that the room isn't very big.

LCD's are traditionally lighter thus easier to mount. I have always paid to have the mount and wiring done.

You want to do this job right so it doesn't hurt the wall or fall apart on you. I paid $250 for the mount and another $300 (!) to have it mounted. The TV only cost me $600.

I am not proficient with home repairs so I had to hire someone for the job.

Very easy to do, just make sure you use long enough screws to really bite into the studs. The screws will come with the mounting kit. You will need a drill, and a level. It will take 20 minutes to install the mounting bracket.

My brother and I mounted my 42" Vizio on the wall in about 2 hours. Basically we hid all the wires in the wall behind the tv. But in order to do that, we have to install a new clock outlet behind the tv. You can run power cords behind the wall, it will void your homeowner's insurance (although some still do it anyway). Just make sure u get good long screws into the studs, a level, and some persistence. Its not that bad. Here are a few links that may help ya..

It's a pretty easy job. I've done a few. I'd charge somebody about $30 to do it, if they were nearby.

You definetly want to catch a stud. I don't like stud finders.

Here's my way.... Find an electrical outlet, take off the wallplate, the electrical box is always on a stud, stud is normally to the left, make a pencil mark indicating the center of that stud, measure off of it,there is a stud every 16 inches (on center), it's marked in red on your tape measure at 16,32,48,64,etc. This rarely fails,I trust it more than a finder.

If no drill, you can use lag bolts and a ratchet.
