so it is not possible to lose anything? You have a little bit of nut to cover at least plus possible vet bills etc
Okay here is the story as I didnt mean it to sound so great.
I obviously have inquired and half attempted alot of hair brain ideas in the past year. I sat down with my trainer and came up with a plan that is extremley beneficial to us. Instead of buying or getting a business that I dont understand or have much interest in I decided this is best for me.
I am with an a VERY PASSIONATE guy (my trainer) and think passion is the #1 key to success for any project. I have known him over 20 years. He said he will do the horses with no cost/training fees as long as I pay the feed and shelter which comes to about $200 a month. We would also split any and all vet bills. Bottom line is I buy the horses (about 6k on average) and they cost me on average about $250 a month for everything. We split the purse money and run it like a small business.
So if an average horse makes 15k a year than we both make $7,500 and after bills I net 4k or so, per horse. He wants this way more than I do as he has no bills with the horses. He has all the sweat but knows this is better than a job for him, espically one he does not enjoy. Let's say on average he makes 6k per horse and has 6 horses, he makes 36k. Not alot of money but this is his passion and I mean that to the fullest extent.
I would never attempt this with another trainer and do not advise it as most trainers charge around 1k per horse but you (the owner) get a higher cut of the purse money.
I know it is not the standard way of doing things, investment wise but it is what makes my heart beat. I have looked into alot of projects but sports and sports gambling is what makes feel alive. It is just who I am. There is the small chance of hitting a homerun and have a top flight horse or one that doesnt make much money but I have it all down on paper it looks to me like a sound investment the way we have it setup. It also is VERY ENJOYABLE and you can't put a price tag on that for me.
