EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Kevin Durant matched his season high with 40 points and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated New Jersey 105-89 Monday night, sending the Nets to their 10th straight loss -- their second double-digit losing streak of the season.
Former Net Nenad Krstic added 19 points and Russell Westbrook had 16 points and 10 assists as the Thunder won a season-high third straight game. Reserve Nick Collison added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Oklahoma City held the Nets to 17 points in the final 17 minutes.
Yi Jianlian matched his career high with 29 points to lead New Jersey, which set an NBA record with 18 straight losses to start the season. Courtney Lee chipped in with 17, Trenton Hassell had 14 and Devin Harris had 11 and 11 assists.

I think the arguments that were going on a year ago about who
will be a better NBA player, Durant or Oden, can now be settled
once and for all.

I would bet that Portland has no chance of going all the way this year.

Like I said in earlier post, season is young, Portland has a chance to improve quite a bit before playoffs begin. Finals aren't until June, last time i checked it was mid Dec. Oden should be alot better by end of season. Wouldn't trade Oden for Durrant if I had a chance. Team has played a ton of road games and are worn out from it.

No doubt his scoring average over his career will be higher then Odens, Oden will definately have bigger impact in the league. Who else is going to take the shots on the horrific team ?

Blazers' Greg Oden suffers setback

Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers and Greg Oden agreed to a restructured one-year contract after the oft-injured center had another setback during his rehabilitation from microfracture surgery on his left knee.
The new contract was announced Friday after the Blazers opened training camp. A day earlier, Oden's agent reported the former No. 1 draft pick had agreed to the $8.9 million qualifying offer that Portland offered on June 29.

"We're hopeful, but less confident that he will return to the court this season," Blazers president Larry Miller said in a statement. "We've stood by Greg from the day he was drafted and we continue to do so now with this agreement."
The 7-foot Oden hasn't appeared in a game in two years. He is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent following this season.
The terms of the new deal were not announced, and the nature of the setback was not disclosed by the team. Oden was examined by doctors in Colorado on Thursday.
It was thought that Oden might be able to practice with the team on a limited basis when training camp opened on Friday. He wasn't expected to play for the team until late January, at the earliest.
Portland selected Oden with the first pick in the 2007 draft, but the ex-Ohio State star had microfracture surgery on his right knee and waited until 2008 to make his NBA debut. He also broke his left kneecap and sat out much of the 2009-10 season.
Oden is averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds over 82 career games.
"I'm obviously disappointed with the setback, but I'm as determined as ever to return to the court," Oden said in a statement released by the team. "I appreciate the support of the Trail Blazers and our fans and that they continue to stand behind me."
The Blazers open the season at home against Philadelphia on Dec. 26.

Durant off to another good start in 2011/2012:

Durant has recorded at least 30 points in the first three games, the only player to do that the past two seasons.

Did ESPN come up with that stat.

"First player to score more than 10 points in the first three minutes of a game for 5 games in a row."

Only ESPN can come up with pointless stats.
