"Robertson pitches gem as Tigers down Twins"
I read this today on Sports Network site, MLB top story. He pitched seven scoreless innings, and they call it a "GEM".
Wow. Have we lowered the bar a little bit here?
I used to watch Nolan Ryan pitch no-hitters, complete games. Now THAT is what I would call a "GEM".
But seven scoreless innings?
Any thoughts on this from anyone? Just seems strange to me. Instead of GEM that might have said "Tigers down Twins with the help of seven scoreless from Robertson"
Not a GEM. But, a pretty good outing.
Will we ever see a perfect game again?
