I am so tired of the PROS of poker telling us how much better they are then us....

why? because cards ALWAYS Have an element of chance... and the PROS aren't the mental gurus they pretend to be... That Annie Duke chic proves that. I would love to play her ass on TV.. easy money for there.

anyway, how many amateurs have to win IN A ROW before the PROS admit that luck plays as much of a role as skill?

THIS IS WHY POKER IS IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM A SPORT. In golf no amateur stands a chance vs. PROS. Likewise in Chess or Darts one just doesn't "get lucky".

I don't think anyone is saying that winning a tournament isn't luck.

Lets see Tiger win a tournament with 6500+ entrants. Different sports measure different abilities/talents. No one in the world would ever beat Justin Gatlin in a 100m race or beat Federer in Tennis but you could get lucky and beat Tiger in golf or Hellmuth in Poker.

Look at how many pros there are playing in relation to the amatuers. I would be willing to bet the pros are far outnumbered. I think what separates the pros from the amateurs are the real big money games.

It seems in tournamnets, when people get dealt A7 offsuit, they think its a monster hand and will go all-in. Would they go all-in for big money with that hand?

So chess and darts are a sport? More like a hobby.

It think we mixed two things here. Poker being a sport and poker being luck.

It aint a fucking sport but no way it is just luck.

If you put 6500 guys who had some basketball experience at the three point line and it was make it until you are out. I bet an amateur might win too.

HEY BEO, hope all is well. Is it going to be a BOY or a GIRL?

There are PRO CHESS AND DART hobbyists. Maybe should have used BOWLING and POOL as an example.

Bowling and pool? You have to be an athlete if you can drink a beer and bowl or shoot pool at the same time.

I refuse to believe Poker is a game of luck......(i'm not arguing the sport or not argument)

The whole fight to have poker legalized in the US is because we are trying to prove that poker is a game of skill. I firmly believe this and I believe that if I were to play a cash game with Phil Ivey, I'm gonna lose....if I play heads up tournaments w/ him, I'll probably lose 70-80% of them.

Most sports or games have some element of luck in it....a FG that bounces off the goalpost can bounce in or out....a halfcourt shot to send a game into OT, a homerun that might be fading foul, a 70-ft putt that goes in for eagle....

....poker is another game that has luck involved, but the pros can get money into the hand w/ higher %s than the others...and they don't always come out, but I'll take the pro anyday....

Basically was stating tired of these idiots in their FULL TILT CRAP thinking their SHIT doesn't STINK, and getting oneir invite only TV specials etc.. Plenty of great poker players amongst the commons. The fact that some doctor or lawyer exceeded in life and isn't at a poker table 100 hours a week doesn't mean the PRO is a better player, all I'm saying.

Poker is a step above the lottery. All you need to do is enter and you have just as good of a chance as anyone else.

To say there are pros is laughable. I'm sure the pros know how to get the aces at the right time or they understand how to play a pair of kings better than a complete idiot.

I would be willing to guess that Ivey and Negranu or any other so-called pro will NEVER win this event! NEVER! That's because poker is nothing but a game of chance!

A game of chance is all poker is and the results every year in this event prove just that!

The only reason the might be better in a cash game is because they are all GAMBLERS! Gamblers take more chances and are more likely to play bad hands and get lucky. And that is all poker is, A game of luck!

Are you kidding? Tiger would still win. The best 100 or so play in the championships. They could add the next 6,400 best in the world (or anyone else) and almost none of them would EVER win. It wouldn't make a difference to Toger if it's 100 or 6,500. I think that was sort of the point of the original poster.

There is a lot of luck in poker.

Then why do Pro's win a lot more money then Amateurs?

Why can pro's win millions yearly? If it was so easy then anyone would do it.

Why can they win so much money and why are they consistently cashing... There are about 100 pro's that are known and i would say about 50 of them cashed in the World Series... and probably closed to all of them cashed in a world series event.
