why didn't the red sox pull tavares in the 5th when he was obviusly not on his game? instead of minimizing the damage, they leave him in with 2 out and a running in scoring position and allow that last 6th run to get in. granted there was an error, but the right moves was to yank him. maybe even before that all happened.

you get a good effort out of washburn, why not pull him in the 6th and let your pen take over? obvioulsy he wasn't himself after allowing a run in the 5th and 6th. why let it turn into a 1 run game before pulling him?

bad managing in my opinion.

Just one of those things, nobody would have said anything if they got away with it.

also the florida game. willis was getting hit by every batter and yet the manager left him in the game. Cards had like 12 hits after 2 innings and score was 6-0, but he left him in.
Managers today donot know how to manage a game. Also they dont know how to make their teams create runs 1 at a time, they are always letting the players try to get the big hit instead of grinding out runs.

there are a few managers who actually know what they are doing. they know how to manage a game and manufacture funs. sometimes teams with a lot of power slump and need to play small ball. lou pinella, as much as i don't like this guy, managed great a few games ago. the angels always score runs because they know how to play the game. the elite teams play small ball when they need to. look at the yankees. the braves have been running more lately. teams need to adjust and the managers need to open their eyes and see what's really going on. too many bad managers.

Managers get way too much credit when they win, and take way too much blame when they lose. Most of the time, the players decide the outcome of the game. And many times, when a manager does make a critical decision, it doesn't become bash material until after it fails. When it succeeds, he's a genius, when it fails, he's a tool. The biggest skill in being a manager is dealing with the players and keeping all the egos in check. It's called manager for a reason, there isn't too much coaching involved.
